Warrior Golf Club Tournament Results

[read_time]

It started out Hot and Sticky early.  A brief shower during announcements and the opening hole or two cooled things off slightly, only for the clouds to disappear and the sun and heat to return.  Just like the weather, the competition was hot across all divisions all day long.

In Division 1 we had 18 players compete on this day.  18 holes were not enough to determine the winner on this day.  Kyle Moffett (Carolina Triad) and Dennis Reames (Charlotte) both shot rounds of 72 (+1) to force a playoff.  Dennis had it going early getting to 3 under but a bad shot caused him to lose momentum and brought the rest of the field back into contention.  In the playoff it only took 1 hole as Kyle stuck it close on the first playoff hole and a birdie to capture the victory.  Just one shot back of these two were Scott Patnode (Charlotte) and Ivan Jones (Carolina Triad Chapter Owner) who shot 73 (+2).  In the Senior Double Dip, Scott Roberts claimed the victory.

Congrats Kyle and Scott!!

In Division 2, we had 22 players competing on this day.   CJ Beatty (Carolina Triad) is rounding into form, wins by 2 with a very solid round of 73 (+2).  Brandon Mabe (Carolina Triad) and Michael Edwards (Charlotte) were two shots back at 75 (+4).  We had a 3-way tie for 4th between Tom Cone (Charlotte), Judd Dye (Charlotte) and Seth Hawkins (Carlina Triad) with these players shooting 77 (+6). In the senior Double Dip, Tom Cone takes home 1st place honors.

Congrats CJ and Tom!!!

In Division 3 we had 20 players battle it out.  It was a 2-man battle for most of the day.  Herb White (Charlotte) and Joe Cannatti (Charlotte) were neck and neck all day.  When the dust settled, Joe Cannatti (Charlotte) shoots and awesome round of 74 (+3) and wins by 1 over Herb White (Charlotte). We had a 3-way tie for 3rd with these players splitting the 3 and 4th place portions of the prize pool.  Nick Adams (Charlotte), Steven Henry (Charlotte) and Andrew Schwab (Charlotte) each shot 80 (+9).  In the Senior portion, just like the open division, Joe bested Herb to make this a true Double Dip.  Note….With Herb’s round being posted he will be graduating to Division 2 as his index drops below 8.5.  Congratulations on your strong play and you will continue to contend in Div 2 for the remainder of the year.

Congrats Joe!!!

In Division 4, 13 players battled it out on Sunday.   Kevin Lepage (Charlotte) makes it back to back victories after his 60th birthday showing that things do getter with age.  Kevin’s round of 81 (+10) was 2 shots better than Charles Dixon (Charleston) who shot 83 (+12).  This was after being promoted to D4 earlier in the week after his index dropped below the 18.5 level.  Rounding out the top 3 was Fred Carvahlo (Charlotte) who shot 85 (+14).  Like Division 3, Keving made this a true double dip by winning the Senior portion of D4 as well.

Congrats Kevin !!!

In Division 5, 11 players battle it out on Sunday.  When 18 holes were completed, Steve Kwon (Charlotte) comes thru with his first local victory on the Charlotte APT.  Steve shot 89 (+18) to post his best round on the local circuit to claim the victory.  Chris McGee (Charlotte) was 2 shots back to take home 2nd place honors shooting 91 (+20).  In the senior portion of D5, Lance Blackshear takes home 1st place honors.

Congrats Steve and Lance !!!

Thank You to all the players that came out on this day, and we look forward to seeing you again at future Charlotte events.

Locally, we have a couple of events coming up that are not that far away,

You will not be disappointed.  This is a great was to get the points necessary to claim the Player of the Year races.
