Willow Creek GC hosted the Local Finals of the Upstate SC Amateur Players Tour on October 2. After having to delay the local finals due to rain and worrying if Hurricane IAN was going to wipe the finals out, 43 players took on the cool conditions and wet course.
Division 1 finished off 2022 with a four-way playoff to decide the Champion. Eric Johannsen (Greenville, SC) used 2 consecutive pars to become the Champion. Finishing tied for second was Jody Clary (Shelby, NC), Patrick O’Brien (Mooresville, NC) and Jimmy Popp (Mooresville, NC). All four players fired +2 74 on the wet course.

Division 2 saw Trent Whitfield (Lexington, SC) fire a 77 and hold off three competitors to capture the championship. Finishing tied for second with 77’s, Rick Philo (Monroe, NC), Phil VanGeersdaelen (Huntersville, NC) and Derrick Godfrey (Duncan, SC).

Division 3 saw “The Bad Man” Nick Adams (Midland, NC) come out on top with a score of 81. This is Nick’s first win of the season and shows good things to come for the “Bad Man” Finishing in second place was Travis Blackwell (Lyman, SC) with an 83 and in Third place was Mary Forrest-Graham (Shelby, NC) with an 84.

Division 4 had (4) players competing for the championship. Eric Seibert (Charlotte, NC) shot a 93 to capture the title. Finishing in second place was Eillis Williams III (Greenville, SC) with a 95.

Division 5 had (8) players competing for the championship. Bobby Lewis (Asheville, NC) shot an 87 to capture his first win on the Amateur Players Tour. Finishing in second place was Rodney Ferrell (Gaffney, SC) with a 95.

In Senior Net, low scores ruled the leaderboard. Trance Whitfield (Lexington, SC) used his Division 2 win to also capture the Senior Net Championship. Trance fired a -3 69. Second place had Rick Philo (Monroe, NC) fire a -1 71.
