Stonebridge Golf Club Tournament Results

[read_time]

What looked like a potential washout late in the week turned out to be 2 great days of golf.  A little bit of rain fell during the latter stages of the first round and a short shower during the second round did not cause the players any issues.  79 total players from 4 neighboring chapters came to compete in the Stableford at Stonebridge.  The event had several outstanding players represent their divisions and the scores certainly showed it.

In Division 1, On Saturday, Alexander Schoel who used his home field advantage as an employee of the course to put up 45 points to put up a 4-point lead over Scott Roberts who put up 41 points.  Tim Barto was next with 39 and Daniel Jackson rounded out the top 4 with 38 points.  On Sunday, Jackson started on fire with 2 quick birdie to start the comeback. A bogie cooled him off slightly, but with 4 more birdies on the back and a total of 47 to go along with his 38 from day one giving him 85 points and the win.  Overnight leader Alexander Shoel settled for second place honors with a total of 81 and Tim Barto takes home 3rd with a total of 80.

Congrats Daniel!!

In Division 2, We have a back-to-back winner in Division 2.  Chase Brown took the overnight lead with a  total of 40 points.  Mike Jacobus was second with 34 followed closely by Marc Janse van Rensburg and Trent Little with 32 points each. On Sunday, Chase never relinquished the lead and won with a total score of 74.  Mike Jacobus was second with 68 points, third went to Chuck Nance who narrowly edged ahead of Eric Stanwick with a birdie on the last hole to claim 3rd place in the Division race and also in the Senior Division 2 race.  Eric had to settle for fourth in D2 and 2nd in D2 Seniors.

Congrats Chase and Chuck!!!

In Division 3, Tony Koechli (95 points) came from 5 points back entering Sunday to claim a 7-point victory over William Buie.  Buie (57 points) who started in a Tie for second with 33 points had it going early in the round and in the end, it came down to these 2 players playing 18.  Buie knowing he had to Birdie the last two holes had to press and it cost him.  Andrew Schwab finished in 3rd with 57 points, and we had a 3-way tie for 4th between Russell McDonald, Jason Tatum, and Josh Johnston each of these players shooting 56 points.  Both Tony and William were in the Sr Div 3 contest and finished in a 1-2 finish there as well.

Congrats Tony.

In Division 4, Sean May had the overnight lead along with Jerry Your, each player shooting 30 points which are great scores for this division.    The lead group struggled a little bit to start, and Greg Pruitt mounted his charge.  Pruitt had 30 points on Day 2 to go along with his 18 on Day 1 to finish at 48 points.  May brought it home with a total of 24 points on Sunday and an overall total of 54.  Third place honors went to Fred Carvahlo with a score of 46.  This score was also good for 1st place in the Div 4 event.

Congrats Sean and Fred

In Division 5, what else is new.  Steve Daniels held a narrow 2-point lead over Terry Bollenbecker starting the round on Sunday.  Steady play got Steve 18 points on Sunday and a 2-day total of 34.  Jonathon Gladden played well and moved into second place with a total of 27 for the two days.  Steve also took home the Div 5 Senior trophy as well.

Congrats Steve !!
