Greystone Golf Club Tournament Results

Greystone Golf Club was the host course for Nashville Chapter‘s first two-day event of the season. 100 players competed on Saturday and Sunday for Visa gift cards, double points towards the season long points race and a chance to raise the trophy. 

In Division One, Tennessee East Chapter’s Tim Saunders started the weekend with a two-under round of 70 to take the first-round lead over Kentucky Chapter’s Tony Wise, who shot E 72 and Hayden Elder who posted +1 round of 73. All three players were paired together for Sunday’s final round, and in the end, Wise posted -3 round of 69 to take the win by two strokes over Elder, who made a charge, finishing with a -2 round of 70. Saunders takes home third place with a final round +1 73. 

In Division Two, Trevor Boyd posted an even round 72 to take a one-stroke lead over Frank Majors and his +1 round of 73. Tied for third after Saturday was Mark McFarland and Cary Anderson as they posted +2 rounds of 74. The final round produced some spectacular play with three rounds of under par being posted! Boyd was able to finish off the victory in-style with a -3 round of 69. Lou Provost, who is out-of-the-money at the start of the day, also shot -3 69 to vault up the leaderboard into a three-way tie for second place with Tennessee East member Johnny Pierce (E 72) and Majors (+2 74). 

In Division Three, Adam Corona opened up play on Saturday by scoring a round of 79, the only sub-80 round of the day in Division 3 to take a lead over Lowe Prescott and Cliff Austin, who both posted 81. All three were paired together on Sunday produced the winning score. Austin, posted 77 and capture the victory by four strokes. Rickie Shae Keyes came from the middle-of-the-pack, shooting 78, to secure a 2nd place finish. Prescott was consistent for the weekend and posted an 82 on the second day to take third place and Corona fell back to fourth place with his Sunday round of 85. 

In Division Four, Kentucky Chapter member, Ken Tharp, posted the low round of the weekend for the division with a stellar round of 80 on Saturday. He took the lead by five strokes over Jason Bucher from the Memphis Chapter and Jake Lavin, who both shot 85. As with the previous divisions, the theme was consistent as the winner came from the final division pairing.  Lavin bolted himself up the leaderboard to victory with a final round 81. Bucher played consistent on Sunday and posted another 85 to solidify his second place finish. David Smith posted a final round of 84 to move into a tie for third with Tharp.  

In Division Five, Thurman Boyd took a commanding four-stroke lead on Saturday with a splendid round of 83. Chris Tomlinson was lurking in second place with his round of 87 and a host of three others, John Kelsey, Tennessee East’s Chip Kirkland and David McDow, were tied for third place heading into Sunday. The final group produce the winner as Chris Tomlinson kept his consistent play going with a final round 86 to overtake Boyd and win by two strokes. Kelsey put up consistent scores of 90 for both days to solidify his hold on third place. 

In the Senior Net competition, Tennessee East’s Johnny Pierce and Kentucky’s Ken Tharp finished tied at-the-top with Pierce winning the scorecard playoff to capture first place. Tharp takes home second and Tony Wise and Thurman Boyd finish in a tie for third place.
