30 Golfers battled it out over two days and the US Open Rough at Blue Ridge Shadows. Recent rains had prevented the course from tackling the rough and it captured many during the course of the 36 Hole Championship in Front Royal, Virginia.
In Division 1, Sean Heath was the only entrant and got off to a rough start with an 88 on day 1 but recovered nicely on Day 2 with a 73.
In Division 2, Bill Marlowe of the Maryland Chapter came out of the gate strong on Day 1 with a two over 74. He carried that momentum in to day 2 and posted an 81 for a 6 shot victory over fellow Marylander, Jeff Snowden. Maryland Chapter Owner, Dave Baca finished 3rd, 9 shots behind. Marlowe also captured 3 Flight Skins on Sunday and 2 Super Skins.
Chad Davis, captured his 2nd ever APT Title in D3 with a two day total of 159 (+15) to take an 8 shot victory over Clarence Smith. Thomas Hundley finished 12 back to finish 3rd
In Division 4, Chuck Nimmo took the early lead on Saturday and kept up the consistency on Sunday by shooting 88-89 to capture an 8 shot victory over Willie Winfree. Barry Neun and James Sims finished 10 off the pace to tie for 3rd
In Division 5, Kyle Carsten and Les Bullock came to 18 tied for the lead. Bullock had some misfortune with the brutal rough and Carsten made a Par to capture D5 by 3 shots for his first APT Victory. Mike Jones finished 3rd.
In Senior Net, Enrique Young captured his second title of the season with a 4 shot victory over Bill Marlowe. Les Bullock finished 3rd.
Skins were split lots of ways this weekend in both Divisional and Super Skins
