Sapona Ridge CC Tournament Results

The fall weather in NC at Sapona Ridge CC was absolutely perfect with temperatures of 70 degrees. We had 45 golfers take on some of the fastest zyosia greens around. The event counts towards 2023 POY points race. 

In Division 1 the scores were not as low as the players are accustomed to but we had players battle for an early season victory. Ivan Jones cards a 78(+7) to take an early clubhouse lead. The lead would not last long as Timothy Barto comes in with a 76(+5) to take the victory and ($200 Gift Card). Jones ($100 Visa Gift Card) 

In Division 2 the battle was a lot tighter. There was a 3-way tie for 2nd place (J Combs, CT Ton, and Marc JVR) with scores of 80(+(9) players split $100 VISA GIFT CARD. The victory of the event takes advantage of our senior double dip contest. Herb White won with a score of 79(+8) to win both the prize total was ($350 Visa Gift Card).  

In Division 3 we needed extra holes to decide the result between Andy Parker and Jerry Evans of CLT. The players both carded an 86(+15). The playoff was set on the 18th hole. The result came in and Jerry Evans was able to win the playoff hole for victory. ($200 Visa Gift Card). Andy Parker wins the Senior contest and 2nd place for open ($175 Visa Gift Card). 

In Division 4 Jason Upright of CLT was able to squeeze the victory out by 1 shot to take an early lead on 2023 POY. Jason Upright secures a ($200 Visa Gift Card). Lee Touchton wins senior Division 4 title ($50 VISA gift Card). 

In Division 5 fireworks were launched!! We have a 3-way tie for Open and Senior Title. Keith Thomas, Steve Daniels and Rivia Brown all carded 98(+27). The playoff was decided after 2 playoff holes and Rivia Brown secures the victory. Brown made a 15-foot putt to force playoff to the next hole. Brown wins a ($350 VISA gift card). Daniels and Thomas both won a $50 VISA gift card for T2.
