President’s Day Golf Tournament Results
The President's Day Invitational was held on Saturday, Feb. 19 at Myrtlewood Golf Palmetto Course. The weather was a great except the wind was a factor for sure. We had 64 players start the day. The 50/50 drawings were won by new member Scott Gibbs ($142) and Mr. Ricky Compton won the entry into Long Bay on March 5th.($95.00)
Division 1: 8 Players started the day and Mavrick Mullinax from Lexington and McCabe Reim (MB) went to extra holes to decide the Champion. They came off #18 tied at +5 (77). Mavrick won on the first playoff hole. Last weeks winner Brandyn Norton finished 3rd at +9 and Greg Moore rounded out the top 4. With the win Mavrick received a $120 visa gift card. Greg Moore won the Senior Div. 1 crown and earned a $60 visa gift card.
Division 2: There were 16 players in Div. 2 competing for the crown. Chase Shealy (MB) and Kevin Lyles (Charleston) both continued to play well as they have all season. They came off #18 at +7 (79) when Chase made a bogey on very difficult par 4 finishing hole. They went to a playoff with Chase winning on the first playoff hole. C Phillip Ceasar (MB) and Victor Rivera (Carolina Triad Chapter) finished tied for 3rd @ +8 with Don Sheads rounding out the top 4 at +9. Chase received a $200 visa gift card for his win and by being a double dipper he received a $120 visa gift card for winning the Senior Div. 2 crown.
Division 3: 14 players were in Div.3. Cecelia Barksdale Purvis (MB) playing in her first event of the season played one of her best rounds since joining tour last season capture a big pay day. Cecelia carded a +6 (78) to edge out "Mr. Joey Pouch" himself Jack Curry (MB) by 3 strokes. (81). Cecelia received a $160 visa gift card for winning the Open Div. 3 and was a double dipper which won her another $120 vgc for winning the Senior Div. She also won a Flight Skin worth $23 and a Super Skin worth $62. Not a bad day for sure. Haris Habibovic (St. Louis) carded a +11 (83) to finish 3rd with Wes Roberston (Charleston) (84) took home 4th.
Division 4: There were 15 competitors in Div. 4. Danny Hause (MB) finished with a +15 (87) and had to wait around to see if he was going to be in a playoff. Jesse Baumann (St. Louis) held the lead for most of the day. By the time Jesse got to #18 he was tied with Danny for the lead. Jesse made a bogey 5 to finish runner-up. With the win Danny received a $190 visa gift card. Cooter Douglas finished 3rd and Tim Driggers 4th. Danny also received a $110 vgc for winning the Senior Div. 4 crown.
Division 5: We had 10 competitors competing for the title and we had our 3rd playoff for the day. Bobby Peyton and Steven Reeves (Charleston) finished the dayat+19 (91). Steven finished strong by playing his last 4 holes +1 to gain a share of the lead. Steven won on the first playoff hole. With the win he won $140 visa gift card and a &90 vgc for winning the Senior Div. 5 crown. Bobby received $90 in gift cards for his runner-up finish in Open and Senior. Mike Pittroff (St Louis) finished 3rd with Selena Droce (St Louis) rounding out top 4.
Senior Divisions had 41 players double dipping, with mean playing both Open and Senior for the tournament. Sr. Division 1: Winner, Greg Moore $60 Sr. Division 2: Winner - Chase Shealy - $`120, Don Sheads - $70, Jeff Roberts $50.
