Oxmoor Valley Golf Tournament Results
Amateur Players Tour – Birmingham Chapter hosted 39 players at Robert Trent Jones Trail Oxmoor Valley (The Ridge Course). Eric Pigman and his staff at Oxmoor Valley dialed up a perfect day of golf for all players to enjoy. The scoring showed just how good the conditions were.
Division 1 had exciting fireworks for the day. Derek Nicholson and Jackson Singletary ran away from the field both firing a very impressive 3-under round 69. The big swing in the day for these players came on holes 13 and 14. Jackson bogeyed the par 3 13th to go back to 2 under and Derek lipped out a birdie on 14 to go to 5-under for the day. A late bogey for Derek and a birdie on the par 5 18th hole for Jackson forced the playoff. Jackson was victorious after the first playoff hole.
Division 2 was a race between three players with Jordan Jones birdieing the last hole to take the one shot victory, with a score of 75. Kevin Schrum knew he needed to be aggressive on the last hole and went for the green in two and had just a little too much power as he went over the green and ended with a bogey for the hole. George Domit recorded a bogey on the difficult par 3 16th hole to put him one shot behind the leaders. This victory is Jordan’s second straight victory in a row and puts him near the top of the national player of the year points race in division 2.
Division 3 was another tight race all day long with Phil Lambert getting his second victory of the season. Phil carded an 81 to take the victory by one stroke over Mike Penn and Tyler Slaten. Phil had a rough opening nine but settled down for an impressive 2 over 38 on the back nine to secure the victory.
Division 4 also had a back-and-forth battle with five players having an opportunity to take the title. Ultimately, Kenneth Hancock was victorious with a score of 87. Kenneth played steady most of the day. Even with a few bumps during the final stretch he managed to bring the victory home. This is his first victory on the Amateur Players Tour.
Division 5 was the only contest of the day that did not come down to the final hole of the day. Jeff Noel ran away with the victory with a score of 84. This is Jeff’s second victory of the season. Terry Hodge posted a round of 92 to take second place.
