Glade Springs Golf Tournament Results

Two top 10 golf courses hosted the APT-WV for the Glade Springs Masters at Glade Springs Resort. Day 1 took place with excellent weather on the easier Stonehaven golf course, while day 2 took place at the treacherous Woodhaven, with the threat of rain and thunderstorms looming. No animals were sacrificed, at least not by us, but whatever we did was enough to please mother nature, as she gave us a cool breeze and some sunshine to end the tournament.

D1- Jerod Ewing had 7 birdies on the weekend to pick up his 8th victory of the season.

D2- Lindy Sullivan and Tyler Hetzer have been in a battle for the top spot all season long, as both players have traveled the country far and wide to gain points. Lindy led after day 1, while Tyler was in 3rd place. Tyler battled back on day 2, as Lindy struggled a little bit on the tough mountain course at Woodhaven. Tyler however was unable to make up his 4 shot day 1 deficit, as Lindy won by 2 and extended his points lead.

D3- Looking to close the season strong to battle for the championship at Cobb, Tink Brown came into the final round trailing Glade Springs member Mikey Carr by 3 shots. Tink opened the 2nd round with back to back birdies and a par in his first 3 holes, while Mikey started par, bogey, double, and just that little bit was enough to swing momentum into Tink’s favor, and he wouldn’t relinquish the lead again. Tink has moved to 3rd in points, 202 points out of first, while Dave Shepperd has moved to within 38 points of Michael Heitz. Three 1 day events remain before the tour championship at Cobb. Should be a tremendous finish.

D4- Tyler Ellison led big after day 1, but some penalty strokes on day 2 made things interesting in the battle with Chris Lusk and James Chambers. Tyler however was able to rebound on the back 9 and go wire to wire to win the Glade Springs masters and increase his points lead. Can he build up a big enough lead to cover him not being able to play in the tour championship?

D5- With the departures of Kevin Long and RJ Smith from D5 and Patrick McNeely not able to compete, D5 was looking for someone to take the reigns and lead. Jason Massie had some scheduling conflicts, and that opened the door to tour newcomer Jason Hancock to jump into the lead. He went into the Glade Springs Masters with his closest competitor Charles Belcher for a head to head matchup. Jason would go wire to wire to win by 21 shots and increase his points lead.

Congrats to our champions and thanks to everyone who came to play. Thanks to Matt Felber and his team at Glade Springs for hosting us and having the course and greens in perfect shape.

Our next events are this Saturday Aug 27th at Moundsville CC, with the rescheduled Marsh Wheeling Memorial at Wheeling CC taking place Sunday August 28th. Registration closes this Friday morning the 26th. Get signed up now for debut at both courses.
