Event Recap: APT Phoenix Golf Season Opener at Longbow Golf Club, November 19, 2023
The APT Phoenix Golf Season Opener held on November 19, 2023 at the scenic Longbow Golf Club was a perfect start to an incredible schedule. The event saw golfers from various locations around Arizona and from out of state converging in Mesa, Arizona, for a day of competitive golf and camaraderie.
Division 1: The highlight of the tournament may have been the intense battle in Division 1, where Sean Koivisto of Phoenix, AZ emerged as the Champion after a gripping 1-hole playoff, finishing at +2. Tony Garcia of Buckeye, AZ showcased tremendous skill and determination, tying with Koivisto in regulation before securing the 2nd Place in the playoff.
Division 2: In Division 2, Bill McKiegan of North Haven, CT claimed the Champion title with a solid +4. The competition for the runner-up spot was fierce, with Paul Kular of Chandler, AZ and Jason Dunkle of Parker, CO both finishing at +5 to share 2nd Place.
Division 3: Johnny Gastelum from Tucson, AZ led Division 3, clinching the Championship with a score of +4. Donna Brown of Chandler, AZ displayed remarkable consistency and skill to secure 2nd Place with a score of +7.
Division 4: Division 4 saw James Sutherlin of Tucson, AZ taking the top spot with a score of +10, demonstrating great control and strategy. Robert (El Machino) Mancha from Apache Junction, AZ followed with a score of +15, earning a well-deserved 2nd Place.
Division 5: Anthony Cano of Phoenix, AZ triumphed in Division 5, winning the Championship with a score of +20. Asher Besharieh of Tempe, AZ put up a commendable performance to clinch 2nd Place with a score of +23.
