The Amateur Players Tour-Birmingham opened the 2024 season at Burningtree Country Club. This is a tour favorite as is always in great shape. The firm and fast greens always treat our players. Thirty-nine players teed it up to claim their share of over $2600 in total prizes.

Jay Hayes used four birdies on the day to post a great round of 73. Jay only had one bogey on the day until a late double bogey on the 16th hole. Jay was able to right the ship and cruise to a five-shot victory over Mike Weathers and Tyler Berry. Jay was awarded the trophy and the $230 Visa Gift Card.

Division 2 took extra holes as Michael Lynn and Marshall Lemmond posted scores of 77. Micheal and Marshall were keeping a close eye on the leaderboard as two players being them had chances to make the playoff. Late struggles from those players created the sudden death playoff between Michael and Marshall. A birdie on the first playoff hole was made by Michael Lynn to win the playoff. Michael was awarded the trophy and $255 in total prizes.

The Division 3 champion was crowned as a first-time winner on the Amateur Players Tour. Jordan Clemons used a score of 84 to take a three-stroke victory over Kevin Smith from the Nashville Chapter. Jordan was awarded the trophy and the $150 prize. Congrats on your first victory on the Amateur Players Tour.

Mike Penn, Division 4 Player of the Year from the 2023 season, started out the 2024 season with another victory. Mike posted a score of 92 to take a two-shot victory over Mike Templeton. Mike Penn was awarded the trophy and the $150 prize to go with it.

Division 5 seemed to be a runaway victory early in the round as Jeff Noel found himself four strokes behind first place after the front nine. Jeff went to shoot a 42 on the back to turn it around and take the victory. Jeff posted a score of 89 to win by two over Don Hamblett. Don was able to take the victory in the Senior Net Contest. Congrats to both Jeff and Don on your victories.

Next up for Birmingham is a trip to Farmlinks on December 17. Tee Times will begin at 10:00 AM and registration is open on The Amateur Players Tour website.
