2023 The Challenge Golf Tournament Results

The summer weather finally appeared in NC at The Challenge GC and it was perfect with temperatures of 80+ degrees. We had 25 golfers take on some of the Bermuda greens around.  

In Division 1 the scores were tight between Tripp Shelton and Ivan Jones. The result was that Shelton held on to win by 1 shot with a score of 75(+3) over Jones. Congratulations Tripp. 

 In Division 2 the battle was tight between Terry Newsome and Coung Ton. The players were both tied coming to 18 at +7. Coung ton was able to make par on the very tough 18th hole to take the victory by 1 shot over Terry Newsome. Ton also won the Senior Double Dip. Congratulations CT! 

In Division 3 we had the largest field of the day and players battled out. Micheal Ogburn posted an early score of 84(+12) for the rest of the field to chase. The field made a few mistakes coming and Ogburn 84 was good enough for a 2 shot victory. In In 2nd place securing some big time points was Jason Smith. Smith also holed from the fairway for an eagle on #10. Ogburn won senior double dip. 

In Division 4 the points race is getting tight, and Christy McCauley felt it was a need to get some much-needed points. McCauley shot an 88(+16) to win by 9 shots. The victory will close the gap for 2023 POY in Division 4.
