Walker Course At Clemson University Tournament Results


The Upstate SC Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour held its twelfth tournament of the season at the Home of the Clemson Tigers (Clemson Walker Course). The golf course was full of Lake Hartwell views and the course conditions were great. The course provided a good test for the players and the staff was fantastic to work with.  

In Division 1, we had 8 players compete for the Championship.  Jason Todd (Clemson, SC) used a steady and consistent round to propel to the win. Jason finished the round with a solid 74. Second place was claimed by Scott Roberts (Lancaster, SC) with a 75.

In Division 2, Division 2 saw the most excitement of the day with (3) players finishing at 3 over par (75). Phil VanGeersdaelen (Huntersville, NC) was the first one in the clubhouse, but Carlos Mojica (Glenville, NC) birdied 18 to get into the playoff. Most impressive was Eric Stanwick (Charlotte, NC), He birdied 16,17 & 18 to secure his place in the playoff on the first playoff hole Carlos Mojica chipped in for birdie to capture the Championship.

In Division 3 we had 9 players battle in a quest to become a Champion.  Kirk Tatge (Charlotte, NC) used a consistent 39-39 to fire a 78 and capture the championship. Tommy Boyter (Greer, SC) and Alex Bechta (Charlotte, NC) tied for second with 81’s.

In Division 4, Scott Bryant (Pickens, SC) kept the momentum going from the last month and secured the win with a very impressive 79. Scott also added to his winnings with a Division Skin, Super Skin, (2) Close to the pins and a 2nd place in Senior Net finishing in second place was Ronnie Bennett (Ocoee, TN) with a 84.

In Division 5 Richard Jenkins (Marion, NC) was able to hang on and fire an 88 for the win. Richard had a triple bogey on hole 18 but was able to hold off Danny Sullivan (Simpsonville, SC) by one shot.

Senior Net Championship 

The Senior Net competition is a new competition for those players 50 years of age or older.  Congratulations to Kirk Tatge (Charlotte, NC) for a 3 under 69 and his first-place win. Finishing in second place was Scott Bryant (Pickens, SC) & Ronnie Bennett (Ocoee, TN ) who tied with 2 under 70’s.

Our next tournament on the Upstate SC Amateur Players Tour will be August 27 at the famed Carolina Country Club. Registration is now open. We anticipate a sell out, so register early to guarantee your spot.
