Urbana Country Club Golf Tournament Results
At Urbana Country Club we had 26 golfers come to play in our 8th event of the year. The event had perfect weather and saw several good scores on a Dye Family design golf course that was setup extremely difficult.
In Division 1 newcomer Ty Schobelock came out quick birdieing his first hole in the Amateur Players Tour. Ty then finished the front nine a little slower with 43 but then shot a very steady 38 on the back highlighted by 7 pars. Ty’s 81 was 2 shots clear of Kip Gray who finished in 2nd. This was Ty’s first win in his first tournament.
In Division 2 Nicklaus Lyons got his second Amateur Players Tour win with an impressive 76. Nick shot 39 on the front nine highlighted by an eagle at the par 5 8th. Nick would then make two bogeys and a birdie on the back to shoot 37 and 76 overall. Nick also grabbed the closest to the pin on the 15th hole. Chris Harris shot 82 for 2nd place and posted 2nd place in Senior Net.
In Division 3 Michael Bruesch, Ryan Nicholson, and Adam Kohler were around the lead all day. Michael made birdie on the 11th hole which was one of his last of the day and then held on for the win. Michael shot 43 on the front and then was steady on the difficult back posting 42 for the winning score of 85. Ryan Nicholson shot 45 on the front and was very steady on the back with 42 for 87 and 2nd place. Adam Kohler who won closest to the pins on 3 and 7 shot 44,44 for 88 and 3rd place.
In Division 4 Johnny Sherman had an impressive opening nine of 41 highlighted by a birdie on 5 that would be a skin throughout the field. Johnny then shot 45 on the back and again took skins throughout the field with an eagle on the par 4 10th. Johnny’s 86 led to a 1-shot victory in Div 4. Chris Louth started slow with a 48 on the front but then caught fire on the back shooting 39 for an 87 and 2nd place.
In Division 5 Gerald McFarland was steady all day shooting 45 on the front and coming in with 46 on the back for 91 and a 2-shot victory. Dalton Devine shot 46, 46 to finish 1 back and alone in 2nd place. Newcomer Luke Hurlburt was extremely impressive shooting 84 with 40,44 highlighted with an eagle on the par 4 5th. Luke was battlefield promoted to Division 4 for his next Amateur Players Tour Event and was very gracious in stepping out of Division 5 for this event after posting a score much lower than the Division 5 range.
In the Senior Net optional side game Chuck Falter shot a net 75 to take a 3 shot victory for his first senior net victory of the year. Chris Harris shot a net 78 for 2nd place. Steve Smith shot a net 79 to come in 3rd.
