The Golf Open at Ashley Plantation Results

Division 1 points leader Jerod Ewing came to Ashely Plantation after a week off from golf feeling refreshed and ready to see what the course had to offer. In his last tournament, he went to a playoff, where he fended off new tour member Robert Waker for the championship, after Robert had defeated him by 3 strokes the week before. Division 1 in West Virginia once again needed a 19th hole to decide a champion. SWVA tour director Anthony Stout stayed with Jerod all day as they battled shot for shot finishing at even par through 18. But on the extra hole, Anthony found the rough, while Jerod found the fairway on their opening tee shots. When the two reached the green, Jerod had 2 putts to seal the win and defeat Anthony on the 1st playoff hole for his 6th victory of the season.

Division 2 continues to be owned by Dexter Moore these last few weeks. Dexter joins Justin Keaton and Marshall Kiser as the only other players to win 3 straight weeks on tour. Will Dexter be the 1st player on tour this season to capture his 4th straight victory? Dexter defeated SWVA tour director Todd Holmes by 7 strokes and visiting Virginia Capital player Nathan Beck by 10. Dexter played a consistent round of golf all day and used an eagle on the par 5 12th hole for his 3rd victory of the season.

Former Division 4 standout in SWVA, Josh Holmes took the Division 3 victory over visiting Carolina Triad player Max Morris by 2 shots. Josh took his winning ways from D4 and has carried them over to D3 as we enter the late stages of the season. The victory at Ashely Plantation was Josh’s 3rd of the season as he continues down the #RoadToPinehurst.

Division 4 points leader Justin Keaton used a lucky bounce off a tree on 17 and a friendly rock on 18 to keep his ball out of the water to survive a close battle on the back 9 to win his 7th tournament of the season over visiting SWVA player Sam Miller. Justin and Sam traded the lead on the back 9 on 4 separate occasions before the trees on 17 that had been so friendly to Justin, proved costly to Sam as he took a triple after his ball deflected OB.

In Division 5, Marshall Kiser, just like Justin Keaton in D4 the same week, saw his 4th straight victory snatched from him at Stonehaven by 1 shot. Just like Justin at Ashely Plantation, Marshall got back to his winning ways with a 7 shot victory over 2nd place in the points Kevin Long. Kevin and Marshall stayed competitive most of the day, but Marshall found his composure over the final 6 holes and sealed the win with a near ace on #18. Marshall also won the senior net game.
