The Upstate SC Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour held its thirteenth tournament of the season at the Home of the Korn Ferry Tour’s BMW Championship (Carolina Country Club). The golf course was immaculate. The fairways were plush, greens fast and was a true test of one’s skill and patience. Thanks to all the wonderful staff for hosting this great tournament.
Before the tournament was to start, The Upstate and Charlotte Chapters of the Amateur Players Tour had the honor to present Folds of Honor with a $3000.00 dollar donation. The chapters collected donations thru the tour year by having 50/50 raffles at each event. We will be working with the Folds of Honor for 2023 and looking for more ways to increase the donations next year. Thanks to all the players who make this possible!
In Division 1, we had 9 players compete for the Championship. Jody Clary (Shelby, NC) used a steady and consistent round to propel to the win. Jody finished the round with an even par 72. Second place was claimed by Brad Rolfe (Lexington, SC) with a 75.

In Division 2, Division 2 saw a return to Champion status for Travis Wartluft (Lake Wylie, SC) Travis fired a 75 to claim the championship. In second place was Ken Fishback (Cornelius, NC) with an 80. Rounding out the top 3 was Eric Stanwick (Charlotte, NC) who continued his stellar play with an 81.

In Division 3 we had 14 players battle in a quest to become a Champion. Gary Martin (McCormick, SC) used a steady hand and lots of patience enroute to shoot an 80 and claim to the Championship. Matt Miller (Fort Mill, SC) fired a 39 on the front nine and finished with an 83 for Second place. Third place saw Mary Forrest-Graham (Shelby, NC) fire an 84

In Division 4, Ellis Williams III (Greenville, SC) was able to hold off Jimmy Sullivan (Greenville, SC) and claim the championship. Ellis shot a 91 and defeated Jimmy by one shot.

In Division 5 We had 14 players battling for the Championship. In the end it was new member Eddie Terrell (Greenville, SC) coming out on top with a 91. Jan Kendrick (Shelby, NC) and Bobby Lewis (Asheville, NC) fired 93’s to finish tied for second place.

Senior Net Championship
The Senior Net competition is a new competition for those players 50 years of age or older. Congratulations to Gary Martin (McCormick, SC) for a 1 under 71 and his first-place win. Finishing in second place was Jacob Sigmon (Shelby, NC) and Bobby Lewis (Asheville, NC) with +3 (75).

Our next tournament on the Upstate SC Amateur Players Tour will be our 2022 Local Championship on September 10-11. Day one will see the tour go south to Easley, SC and take on the famed Southern Oaks GC. On Sunday we will hold our final round of the 2022 season at Willow Creek GC to determine our 2022 Upstate Tour’s Players of the Year.
