Why should I join an amateur golf tour?

Amateur Golfers from the United States and Canada who love tournament golf, playing great golf courses, and competing against players of their own skill level are joining the Amateur Players Tour, to enjoy professionally-run amateur golf tournaments.

Divisions for Every Skill Level

Division 1 - 3.4 & Below
Division 2 - 3.5 - 8.4
Division 3 - 8.5 - 13.4
Division 4 - 13.5 - 18.4
Division 5 - 18.5 & Above

Players compete in golf tournaments at the local level in a season-long points race with players being divided into five divisions based upon their skill level to provide fun and fair competition. Division champions will be crowned at each event, with the winners receiving a trophy and all prize pools paid out in VISA Gift Cards. Local Players of the Year will be crowned in every local chapter.

Like to travel? APT members have the opportunity to compete in national majors at bucket-list venues such as Big Cedar Lodge, Streamsong Resort, and Chambers Bay. Players seek to qualify for the North American Championship, where National Players of the Year will be crowned in each division. Seniors have an option to compete in each local chapter and qualify for a Senior-only Championship each year. Divisions are assigned based on Amateur Players Tour Tournament Index, calculated using players tournament scores with the APT. The APT observes the USGA Rules of Golf governing competition and amateur status.

The Amateur Players Tour is the fastest growing am tour on the continent, with over 40 chapters across the United States and Canada, consisting of a local schedule in each market, national events at bucket-list destinations, and a season-ending championship (open and senior) for top finishers in each local chapter. The APT provides a professionally run tournament experience for the everyday golfer of all ages and ability levels, allowing golfers to compete against players of their own skill level at some of the best golf facilities in their area and across the continent.

We offer 5 divisions based on your skill level. Players will be initially placed in a division based on their current 12-month low of their USGA GHIN Index or other verifiable handicap. If a player does not have a verifiable handicap index, our local chapter owners will help place you in the proper division based on your scores, distance you played from, etc. *Players who do not have a verifiable index may not be eligible for prizes during their first event if they shoot out of division. Once you join, your division placement will be determined based on your APT Tournament Index, which is calculated exclusively with your scores in APT events.

The Player Badge Membership Cost is $125 and is a season-long membership. Our 2024 season will run from September 30th, 2023 through the 2024 North American Championship on September 25th, 2024. Your membership gives you access to compete in any of our over 800 events across the United States and Canada. Our tournaments are professionally run, well-organized, and are hosted at some of the top golf facilities in every area. Membership also includes a membership gift for joining.
