Tennessee Grasslands Golf Tournament Results

The Music City/Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour visited Tennessee Grasslands in Gallatin to compete on the Links Course, one of the sites for the North American Championship this coming October. 95 players were able to carve out time on a Wednesday to battle for trophies, VISA gift cards, and optional side games, totaling just over $4,900.  

In Division One, Atlanta Chapter Co-Owner, Derek Nicholson scored a four-stroke victory over Amateur Players Tour national co-owner, Matt Minder and Tennessee East member, Chris Bloebaum.  Derek’s front nine of 3-under 33, which included an eagle on the par 5 7th, propelled him to victory with a round of even par 72.  

In Division Two, Cary Anderson’s up-and-down round was good enough to shoot 7-over 79 and score a two-stroke victory over Trever Boyd and Craig Ketelsen, who both posted 81. Three players tied at 10-over 82 and split 4th place winnings, Kyle Reed, Tennessee East’s Johnny Pierce and Lou Provost. 

In Division Three, Jack Buckley cruised to a five-shot win, posting 10-over 82. He bested 2nd place finishers, Adam Corona and Peyton Massey, who both finished their rounds at 15-over 87. 

In Division Four was another tight competition with the top 6 players finishing within 3 strokes of each other. In the end, Jake Lavin posted 92 and beat David Smith by one shot. 

In Division Five, Birmingham Chapter member, Don Hamblett, shot 97 and was able to squeak out a one-stroke victory over David McDow. Two others, Stan Laws and Chris Tomlinson, finished 3 strokes back of first to split the 3rd place prize. 

The Senior Net competition, which allows members that are 50 years and older to participate in a separate, coinciding tournament, was take by Division 2 winner, Cary Anderson. Cary’s net was 3-over 75.  In second place, Tennessee East member, Johnny Pierce, who posted a net of 5-over 77 and rounding out the top 3 was James Newkirk, posting 80.
