Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO Invitational Results
'The Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO was held at Sea Trail Golf Golf Club in Sunset Beach, SC. We played the Byrd Course. The course was in great shape. The day started out a little iffy with the weather but after about 30 mins it cleared up and was perfect and hot!!!
In Division 1, Lee Barton (Chapter Owner), the eventual champion, got off to the very rough start bogeying 4 of the first 5 holes and was 5 shots behind season points leader Travis Powell. He began his comeback with birdies on the 9th and 10th holes. He ended up making 2 more on the way in and with a 1 over 73 to edge out Scott Hughes by 2.
Division 2 was a close battle all day between eventual winner Don Sheads (78). Travis Wartluft from visiting once again from the Charlotte Chapter finished 2nd and Joey Todd finished 3rd
Division 3 - Jimmy Starrett continued his stellar play carding his best round of the year 77 to win by 5 over 2nd place finisher Tim Frisch.
Division 4 was won once again by Jack Pereria to capture his 4th win of the season. Mike Burrage finished 2nd.
Division 5 saw David Taylor capture his first win of the season carding a 94. Bill Price finished 2nd.
The Senior Divisions were all won by the the same 5 players. At the end of the round we had a demo day sponsored by Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO.
Ron Mercaldi the Sandpiper Dragons Senior Tour owner helped put this together for our players. I will tell you the new irons from Srixon are like BUTTER. You really need to try them and the new ZStar ball as well.
