Springfield Country Club Tournament Results
On a colder, windier day at Springfield Country Club we had 42 golfers brave the elements in our Columbus opener. There was tremendous scoring throughout the field with several birdies being made through all flights.
In Division 1 John Burke opened slow bogeying 4 of his first 5 holes but quickly righted the ship shooting 40 on the front 9. John then lit up the back nine making birdies on 3 of his last 5 holes to come home in 34 and posting a winning score of 2 over 74. Tony Wise had a steady round highlighted by birdies on both par 5s on the front. Tony shot 77 to come in 2nd taking home a CTP and 2nd in Senior Net.
In Division 2 Nicklaus Lyons had an impressively steady round with 3 birdies and 4 bogeys. With the lead Nicklaus was able to play the last 5 holes 1 under to post a winning score of 73. Chris Brubaker had a great opener to the season with 75 and highlighted by birdies on 10 and 11. Both were skins with Division 1 and 2 and led to a 2nd place finish. Brian Hinkle and Parviz Soulati posted 76’s for a tie for 3rd.
In Division 3 Steve Phillips played solid all day and had birdies on 5 and 11. Steve weathered a rough patch on 16 and 17 with a tremendous par on a very tough 18th hole and posted a winning score of 81. Anthony Trocchio had a great first tournament of the season and posted a solid round of 82 for 2nd place. John Lutes shot a stead 42 on the front and 43 on the back for 85 to take 3rd place.
In Division 4 Danny Bay continued his great APT play with another strong round of 88 and a 1 shot victory. Danny closed well with 43 on the back and for the round had an impressive 9 pars. Cody Collins fought hard in his first event of the season and posted a score of 89 for 2nd place. Johnny Sherman and Patrick Groves tied for 3rd with 90. Patrick Groves also won the Senior Net game with a net score of 1 over 73.
In Division 5 Steve Smith started how on fire with a 43 on the front 9 which was highlighted by a birdie on 6 which was the only birdie on 6 across the whole field. Steve hung on down the stretch to turn in a winning score of 94. Brandon Turner kept his consistent play going with a 96 and 2nd place finish. Nadine LaRoche and Doc Sherman both shot 98 to come in 3rd place.
