Spencer T. Olin Golf Course Tournament Results

[read_time]

Last week, the Amateur Players Tour converged on the only Arnold Palmer designed facility in the St. Louis area, with a sold-out field of 120 players. At nearly 7,000 yards, this Championship layout challenges golfers of all skill levels. The course is deceptively “open” and places a premium on accurate iron play to get the ball close to the pin.

In Division 1, JD Sabio came out to set the tone in his first APT event shooting five over-par 77 to earn a 1-shot victory over Robert Nemnich and John Todd who tied for 2nd shooting six over par 78.

Division 1 Results:
1st: JD Sabio: +5  77
T2nd: Robert Nemnich: +6 78
T2nd: John Todd: +6 78

In Division 2, long time member Chad Crawford shot one of his best rounds he has ever had on the APT shooting a fantastic score of two over-par 74 at the golf course he learned to play on.  Finishing right, behind him was Matthew Nemnich of O’Fallon, MO and Chris Turner of Ellisville, MO shooting a great round of five over-par 77.

Division 2 Results:
1 Chad Crawford +2 74
T2 Matthew Nemnich +5 77
T2 Chris Turner +5 77

In Division 3, we had a tight race between 6 players and at any moment one of them could have been crowned champion. The winner had to be determined by a play-off between Tim Leonberger and David Baxmeyer, both shooting nine over-par 81 during regulation. Tim was just able to edge out David on the first playoff hole to solidify his third win on the APT. Ending up one stroke behind Tim and David was Tim Hill, Chuck Schrank, David Watson, and Norm Slazinik shooting a good round of ten over-par 82.

Division 3 Results:
1 Tim Leonberger (Playoff) +9 81
2 David Baxmeyer +9 81
T3 Tim Hill +10 82
T3 Chuck Schranck +10 82
T3 David Watson +10 82
T3 Norm Slazinik +10 82

In Division 4, there was a tight race between Greg Miller and Jim Witt. They battled back and forth all day long. Greg was able to edge out Jim by a single stroke shooting nine over-par 81 while Jim barely came up short shooting a ten over-par 82.  Staying just a few strokes back was Toby Chrzanowski, Steven Middendorf, and Rick Johnson all tying for 3rd shooting a fifteen over-par 87 on the day.

Division 4 Results:
1 Greg Miller +9 81
2 Jim Witt +10 82
T3 Toby Chrzanowski +15 87
T3 Steven Middendorf +15 87

In Division 5, we had a tight race between 4 members. Longtime member Lauren Borgmeyer chalked up her first 2022 APT victory shooting a twenty-two over-par 94. Andrew Holmes of St. Peters, MO finished just one shot behind Lauren shooting a twenty-three over par 95.   Tying for 3rd was Jerry Miller and Doug Sinn shooting twenty-four over-par on the day.
