Our SEASON OPENER for the Metro NY Chapter of the Amateurs players tour!
It was a beautiful sunny day with some gusty winds at Rock Hill Golf and Country Club, everyone was very excited to kick off the new season, let’s see how the players did?
Division 1: Start to finish Michael Felton (78) controlled the field, 37 on the front 41 on the back Felton was able to hold off Luke Walters (80) to take home his first victory of the year! Congrats Michael
Division 2: First event of the year and already we have some drama! John Sheehan (80) and Lance Singer (80) decided 18 holes wasn’t enough and took it to a playoff ! Tied again after the 1st extra hole they went to hole 2. Both players battled but, in the end, but it was Singer who made the Birdie putt to end the playoff and take home the hardware! Just on their heels was Brendan Kost (81) who took home third place.
Division 3: Just ONE stroke separated the top 10 players in this ultra-competitive division! Ultimately the man who stood above all the rest was Justin Keiser (84), he gutted it out and secured first place! Nine players finished just one stroke back with an 85, making this division an early favorite to be the most competitive on tour! Congratulations to Justin on the win!
Division 4: Another nail biter atop the leaderboards, here in division 4. A 3 stroke difference was all that separated the top 3 players! Peter Murray (84) Dima Kuznetsov (85) and Jeff Marshall (86) all gutted it out to and gave it their all to see who could bring it home.. Murray claimed that victory edging the other two players by the slightest of margins! Great job by all and congrats Pete on an awesome victory!
Division 5: New to tournament golf and maybe some first-time jitters for Ray Kenchik? Nah, Kenchik (88) dominated the field start to finish with an eagle along the way! Congrats on the win Ray! Division 4 may be calling your name very soon!
John Egan (94) took second with Dave Densieski (95) rounding out the top 3!
Thank you all for an amazing first event! If Rock Hill was any indication of what this tour is going to be this year, we can safely say that it’s going to be an amazing ride!
