Season Opener at Annbriar Results

[read_time]

On Sunday, the St. Louis chapter of the Amateur Players Tour kicked off it’s 4th season at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, IL.  160 players competed on a sold-out field.  Players faced cold and wet conditions as they kicked off the 2022 season, but players competed for over $3,000 in prize pool and over $3,000 in the skins/ctp pot.

In Division 1, Sam Osborne of Decatur, IL played an extremely solid round of golf in tough conditions and with tournament pins, with one-birdie and one-bogey to shoot an even-par 72 and earn a two-shot victory over Blake Claycomb (Indianapolis) and Nate McCutcheon, who both shot 2-over par 74’s to finish in a tie for 2nd.

In Division 2, 18-holes would not be enough to decide the first event of the year in the 43-player field.  Chris Koechner and Dave Adams both shot 4-over par 76’s to finish tied at the top of the leaderboard after 18 holes.  Chris made an all-world par on the first playoff hole to secure his first win on the Amateur Players Tour.  Joel Miller finished one-shot back with a 77, while Scott Cheek finished in 4th place with a 78.  Dave Oleksa’s 81 was good enough for 5th, while Billy Davis, Jason Carpenter, and Cory Gregersen tied for 6th.

In Division 3, it would also take more than 18 holes to decide the 50-player field.  Mark Ralph posted the clubhouse lead with an 8-over par 80, but Mark Brouk matched him in the last group to force an on-course playoff.  Both players hit the green, but Mark Brouk’s approach finished just 6 feet from the hole.  A two-putt was all that was needed to secure Mark Brouk’s win.  Tim Koncki finished in 3rd with 81, while David Dixon finished 4th with 82.  Andy Nugent, Peter Allen and Haris Habibovic tied for 5th with 85, while Nick Pavlovits, Aaron Gulley, Tim Leonberger, and Simay Souvannarath tied for 8th with rounds of 86.

In Division 4, Jason Thuet edged Bryce Vandas for a one-shot victory, firing an 88 for the one-shot victory.  Rick Johnson and Dallas Cook finished tied for 3rd with rounds of 91 while Dave Parker finished in 5th with a round of 93.

In Division 5, Rocky Metcalfe from Kansas City had a great day, separating himself from the field with a 5-shot victory over Lauren BorgmeyerJerry Miller followed up his 2nd place effort from the Senior event at Tamarack Country Club with a T-3 finish at Annbriar with Mike Pittroff.  Selena Droce finished in 5th place.

From here, the tour moves to Pevely Farms Golf Club in Eureka, MO on Sunday, April 10th.  Space is limited, and spots are filling up quickly so don’t miss out on your chance to play the tour’s next stop!  18 spots remain.  Register here!
