Kirksville Country Club Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

On April 1st, 2022, the Iowa Tri-State chapter of the APT held our season opener at the beautiful Kirksville Country Club with an almost sold-out event! The weather pulled its own April fools prank on us with an hour delay from frost. This had us worried about how the day would turn out with the delay but by our first tee time at 10:00 a.m. the conditions were perfect! The sun had melted the frost and warmed thing up. The wind even decided to cooperate with just a slight breeze here and there to help dry things out. Our 48 players were great about the delay and limited range options, and we were able to get everyone teed off and going without any issue! The weather just got better throughout the day, making it a beautiful day for the tournament. It was a great way to kick off the 2022 season!

Division 1 had a competing field of 11 players. National owner Matt Minder came up to show some support and compete in our kickoff event. Minder was able to take home the trophy with an impressive 6 stroke lead shooting 71 for the day. The rest of division one battled it out with close scores for second and third place. Garrett Wilson came in second by one stroke over A.J. Cooper. Closest to the pin winner for this division was Matt Borgmeyer on hole #3.

Division 2 battled it out for first place with Dave Shalley making up the score on the back nine giving him a one stroke lead over McKinnley Leonard who shot 40 on the front and back with a score of 80. Shalley shot a 42 on the front and a 37 on the back giving him the victory in this division with 7 players. Our closest to the pin winner in this division was Brain Vance on hole #14.

Division 3 had 7 players competing in a close race for first, second, and third place all being one stroke difference. Chad Beavers was able to take home the win with a score of 85 leaving Darren Smith in second with an 86 and Scott Riley in third with an 87. Division 3 couldn’t stick any on #12 green for our closest to the pin competition.

Division 4 was our largest player field with 13 people competing for the win. Kent Chapman was able to pull off the win with a 2-stroke lead over second place winner Luke Mudd. Third place had to be determined by a score card play off between Nick Louderback, Mike Murray, and Cody Wilson. Nick Louderback was determined to be the third-place winner of the play off. Kent Chapman won the closest to the pin on hole #7.

Division 5 had some close scores with the winner being Rusty Brownell with a score of 93. He was able to pull off a win by one stroke over Robert Rosenbaum, who finished with a score of 94. Winner of closest to the pin for this division was Brady Watts on hole #17.

The Iowa Tri-State season kickoff at Kirksville Country Club was a great way to start our season off with a bang! Everything went off without a hitch, while everyone enjoyed themselves and the weather. We would like to thank all of the players that came out to support us in our first event of the season. We cannot wait to see everyone at our next event on April 10th at Spring Lake Country Club in Quincy Illinois! Registration for that event closes Sunday April 3rd so be sure to register! We look forward to the 2022 season!
