Players Stay Cool at the GLENMOOR, presented by Larsen HVAC

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the APT made a tour stop in Salt Lake County at Glenmoor GC in South Jordan, UT on Sunday, June 13th, 2021.  With summer making an early arrival, players braved a high temperature of 104° in a single day, stroke play tournament.  Event sponsor, Larsen HVAC was on-hand to deliver goodies, keep the players cool, and added a sizzling $500 to the prize pool, divided evenly between our 5 gross division champions.

In Division I, Danny Meaders fired a two-under 70, en-route to the victory, claiming a $189 VISA Gift card for his win.

Michael Hollan claimed his first victory on the Amateur Players Tour, finding 4 birdies and scoring 36-37-73 for a four-stroke victory over runner-up Dallin Wood (77).  Hollan takes home $240 in tournament winnings.  Wood, recently promoted to D2, did not disappoint and takes home $60 for his 2nd place finish, besting Jeff Clifford (77) in a scorecard playoff 39:41.

Division III saw another first-time winner on Tour as Garrett Danielson (71) beat 18 others in his division.  Danielson, playing on his home course was bogey free through his first 10 holes and won in run-away fashion netting $300 for the win.  Mani Kottaichamy’s arrow continues to point upwards, as he takes the runner-up prize of $90 by shooting a sub-eighty 78.  Josh Henshaw (79) took 3rd place and $50.  Mike Brown (81) and Luke Barritt (81) both tied for fourth, with Brown rounding out the money line and $20 by besting Barritt in the second scorecard tiebreaker 29:28 (last 6).

Robert Hill claimed his second victory of the season (Desert Pines) and fired a competitive personal best 77 (+5) to win Division 4 and $250.  David North (83) finished off his best round of the season and was in second place ($70) and Mark Torbett (84) finished in third place ($20).

Joshua Madden is $255 richer, but an even fuller heart as he also claimed his first trophy and win on the Amateur Players Tour.  Josh fired a cool 87, including 5 pars and won by three shots over Mike Eames (90) and 5 shots over Naveen Ravindran (92).  Eames added $80 to his ledger and Ravindran $25, along with a host of points towards the Rocky Mountain Player of the Year races.

High drama in the Division 5 net game, as 4 players tied at 6 under!  Mike Eames, Naveen Ravindran, Mark Miller and Sudhakar Namasivayam all were vying for the event trophy as it went to the USGA scorecard playoff.   In the first tiebreaker (last 9 holes), Ravindran (33), Eames (33), and Namasivayam (33) all advanced, with Miller (36) eliminated.   In the second tiebreaker (last 6 holes), Namasivayam (21), and Ravindran (21) nipped Eames (22), eliminating him as 3rd place.  It would come down to the third tiebreaker (final 3 holes), with Ravindran claiming the victory, besting Namasivayam 10 to 11 and laying claim to the Glenmoor at APT Champion Pin Flag!

Overall CTPs were worth $55/ea and won James Goodfellow (#3 – 4’8”), Bob Woitalla (#7 – 15’6”), Robert Hill (#13 – 8’8”), and McKade Christensen (#16 – 4’7”).  Super Skins wins were $111/ea and won by Josh Henshaw (2), James Goodfellow (9), Mark Torbett (11), Aaron Bascomb (16), and Troy Hill (17).

Congratulations to all of our Division Champions and various winners.
