Montgomery Bell Golf Tournament Results

Montgomery Bell played host to the Nashville Chapter’s tournament this past Saturday.  76 players across 5 divisions competed for trophies and gift cards. Players battled through two weather delays, but were able to finally get the round finished.

In Division One, Cary Anderson posts even par 71 to capture the win.  Anderson thought his victory was in jeopardy with a double-bogey on the par 4 15th.  He was able to par in and be the leader in the clubhouse.  Ed McDugle challenged for the win, but an errant tee shot on the par 5 18th lead to a closing bogey to finish one stroke back at +1 72.  Finishing in a tie with McDugle was Dakota Woodcock, who posted 7 birdies, 4 of them on the front nine.

In Division Two, the Memphis Chapter represented. Jeffery Avant and Tim Miller finished 1st and 2nd, respectively.  Avant was on cruise control until a he got on the bogey train to finish his round.  He finished his round at +5 76.  Miller attempted to catch him, but finished one-stroke back to take sole possession of 2nd.  Nashville Chapter member, John Bradshaw, played consistently and finished two strokes back in 3rd place.

In Division Three, defending Division 3 Champion, Jerry Drewry, scored his first victory of the season with a round of +7 78.  Future member, Preston Barnett, made it close finishing one stroke back with a +8 79.  In the “Nice Comeback” category, playing partners Nick Wunderlin and James Newkirk both finished in a tie for 3rd place after starting their round with a penalty when they teed off from the wrong tee box.

In Division Four, Jake Bush and John Cormier were in the same group and each could see what the other player was doing.  In the end, Bush’s front-nine 39 propelled him to victory.  Bush captures the three-stroke win over Cormier.  David Smith finishes with an 87 to capture 3rd place.

In Division Five, Bowen Barrett captures his first win of the season with a two-stroke victory over Division 5 points leader, David McDow.  Barrett finished with an 87 and McDow was two strokes back at 89.

In the Senior Net competition, Jerry Drewry capitalized on his Division 3 win with a one-stroke net victory over Cary Anderson.  Memphis Chapter’s Ed McDugle and Don Weiss, Jr. finish in a tie for 3rd place.
