Local Finals at Carolina Trace CC Results

There were 44 players that traveled across the South Carolina and North Carolina for the final chance for Local player of the year points. The challenges started with the weather on Saturday as we played through showers to complete the first round.

In Division 1 Park Williams set the pace in the first round with at 78(+6) to take a 3 shot lead over Ivan Jones. In the second round Williams maintain control thru the front but a few mistakes on the back caused for the match to be tied with Jones on the 18th tee. Williams secured par to win by 1 after Jones’ bogeyed. Congratulations Park!!!

In Division 2 we had 2 plot local player of the year race going on from 2 different chapters. In Carolina Triad Pedro Montoya held the lead but with a victory from 2-4 place could cause Montoya’s player of the year chance to disappear. In Charlotte we had Wesley Jones and Travis Wartluft in battle for the crown. In the end Pedro Montoya was able to hold the competitors in his chapter to become Local Player of the Year for Triad. Wartluft had to win the event and wesley would need to finish in a tie for 3rd or worst. Wartluft won the event but Wesley Jones finished in 2nd to secure Player of the year in Charlotte. Congratulations to all three for the accomplishments this weekend.

In Division 3 we had some solid golf played thru the tough conditions this weekend. The Day 1 leader was William Buie of Upstate Chapter. Buie secures Local player of the year in Upstate with a victory or higher finish over Tj Eaves. In the 2nd round of the tournament Buie could not keep up the same pace as yesterday and Triad Cisco Almodovar comes from behind to take Local Finals title. Buie wins the Upstate player of the year by finishing 2nd place.

In Division 4 we had a performance by our very own Christy McCauley. McCauley had secured Local Player of the Year prior to entering the event. She was using the event a tune up round for North American Championship at Pinehurst. McCauley set the pace early with a score of 89(+17) to take a comfortable lead. In the 2nd McCauley extended her lead to complete the clean sweep. Local Player of the Year and Local Finals Championship. She has positioned every self in 2nd in the race of National Player of the Year. Stay tuned to see if she can pull it out.

In Division 5 we had another great performance from our very own Cal Rogers. Rogers had commanding lead in Division 5 Local player of the year race. Cal was able to have a clean sweep with a victory in Local Finals and Local Player of the year for Division 5!!!

We would like to thank all the players that played or joined our tour this year. We have a lot of great things in store the next season.
