Labor Day Golf Classic Results
The 2021 Labor Day Classic Presented by: One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning begin on Sept. 3rd with our Skins Day. We played one of the best courses on the Grand Strand. World Tour Golf Links. There were a total of 7 Super Skins won. Round 1 on Saturday @ World Tour. The field was set at 70 players and it was time for the players to hit the course running. 7:40 was the first time and they were starting on #1 and #10. The Pace of Play was exceptional. Players completed their rounds an average of 4:30 mins. I can't thank each of you for all your help with this. The APT is very committed to making the Players experience like no other tour out there. At the end of round 1 each division was very close. Round 2 was played at Grande Dunes Resort.
Division 1 had 16 players begin and the National Points leader Eric King from Ky held a 2 shot lead over Travis Powell. Eric carded a 72 on Day 1 and backed it up with another even par round on Sunday to take the hardware. Scott Roberts the 2020 Champion played steady on Sunday to finish runner-up. Park Williams came storming back to finish in tie for 3rd with Tim Saunders. Arabinda Behura rounded out the top 5. Tim Saunders took the crown for the Senior Division.
Division 2 was a hard fought division for sure. 22 players were battling for crown. Round 1 ended with Lee Dixon (75) holding a 1 shot advantage over Big Mac and Seth Hawkins and a 3 shot lead over Travis Warluft. Final round was back and forth the entire round. When the lead group made the turn, Lee (37) had increased his lead to 2 shots. The par 5 #14 things changed. Lee slipped and making a double with Big Mac making birdie and a 3 shot swing, Big Mac had a one shot lead. Lee settled himself and managed to par the last 4 holes while Big Mac played his +2 to give Lee the win. Big Mac and Travis finished tied for 2nd, Seth hawkinss held on for 4th and Micheal Lane (who won the only Super Skin in Round 1) rounded out the top 5. In the Senior Div. Lee Dixon also took this crown with Travis 2nd and Mike Lane finishing 3rd.
Div. 3 had a smaller field with 7 players beginning round 1. Cliff Austin from Independence, Mo held a 4 shot lead after round 1, firing a 82. Jack Sudol was 4 strokes back (86). Round 2 Jack closed the gap when Cliff made bogey on his first hole. Cliff made birdie on his 4th hole and never looked back. Cliff ended the day at +9 and a total of 161 for the tournament to take the crown. Jack finished 2nd with James Daniel 3rd, Danny Hause 4th and Mark Scott rounding out the top 5. Jack Sudol took the Senior Div. 3 crown with Dodd Daniel runner-up.
Division 4 had 17 players begin Rd 1. Brad Williams playing in his first APT event ended the day with a very impressive +9 to hold a 4 shot lead over David Swimm and a 5 shot lead over Virginia Capital Chapter owner, John Lambert, Round 2. Walking off #9 Brad and David were all square with John only 2 back. David pulled ahead on #10 when Brad slipped made double. Brad birdied #11 and they were all square once again. They went back and forth until #16 and David pulled away to capture the win by 1 shot over Brad. John finished 3rd, Brian Raymond carding the best round of rd. 2 in Div. 4 (83) came back to finish 4th with Curtis Faison rounding out the top 5. David captured the Senior title as well with John Lambert runner-up, Brian 3rd and jack Pereira finishing 4th.
Division 5 Tom Berry (94) held the lead by 2 strokes over Tim Harbin. Tim grabbed the lead on the front 9 and never looked back. Tim carded a (89) in round 2 to capture the crown. Tom Berry was runner-up, Greg Williams finished 3rd and Jimmy Walton rounded out the top 4. Jimmy Walton took the Senior crown with Bill Price runner-up.
