Gateway National Playoff Results

[read_time]

On Sunday, the St. Louis Chapter held its second playoff event at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, IL.  The players encountered a beautiful Sunday on a golf course that was in great shape.  Players were vying to move up in the local player of the year standings to improve their position going into the local finals at Annbriar.  The top finisher in each division Player of the Year race will receive a trophy, $500 Visa Gift Card, and a custom logoed 2021 Champion PING bag.

In Division 1, Tyler Fieser wasted no time picking up where he left off from his victory at Franklin County Country Club, firing a blistering 4-under par on the front nine to set the pace.  Though he dropped a few shots coming in, his even par round of 71 was good enough for a 4-shot victory over Nick GoekeJohn Todd, Marco Tallerico and Matt Borgmeyer finished tied for 3rd.  Headed into Annbriar, Fieser’s lead over Kevin Erxleben is less than 100 points and the Top 5 are all still very much in contention for the Player of the Year race.

In Division 2, Dave Adams returned to the winners circle with an excellent round of 76, earning a 3 shot victory and padding his lead in the Player of the Year race.  Todd Feurhaken and Doug Schlenk finished tied for 2nd with 79s, while Chad Crawford finished in 4th with an 80.  Jeff Rainford and Chris Scoles tied for 5th with 81.  Dave Adams takes a lead into the Finals at Annbriar, with Nate Hampton, Dave Oleksa, and Mike Mervis chasing closely behind.

In Division 3, Chad Henry earned his first victory since the Independence Open @ Whistling Straits, shooting a 79 to earn a 2-shot victory and jump 3 spots to 3rd in the Player of the Year race.  The rest of the Top 4 showed up as well, all finishing in the Top 4 at Gateway National.  Points leader Ray Morales and Tim Koncki tied for 2nd with 81s, while Michael Konuch shot 82 to finish in 4thChristain Benavides, Joe Sinak, and Haris Habibovic each tied for 3rd with rounds of 83.  Heading into the finals at Annbriar, Ray Morales takes the lead, but is followed closely by Michael Konuch, Chad Henry, Tim Koncki, and Peter Allen.

In Division 4, it was Danny Graves’ day.  He shot a season low round of 82 to earn a 2-shot victory over Adam Gulley and Sudakhar Injamuri, who shot 84’s to finish tied for 2ndSteve Kane finished in 4th with 86 while Gregory Miller finished in 5th with 87.  Heading into the local finals at Annbriar Golf Course, Adam Gulley takes the lead over Gregory Miller.  The win moves Danny Graves into striking distance of the $750 prize, while 2019 Champion Mike Scalera is lurking in 4th place coming back from an injury.

In Division 5, Jim Seibert earned his career win on the APT, shooting a 92 to earn a 4-shot victory which pulled him within 60 points of Linda Bozada for the Division 5 lead.  2020 Player of the Year Jesse Baumann finished in 2nd with a 96, while Jerry Miller followed up last week's win with a 3rd place finish with a 98.  Heading into the local finals at Annbriar, Bozada holds a narrow lead over Seibert and Mike Pittroff.
