The Amateur Players Tour-Atlanta had nearly perfect weather for Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City, GA. 27 players competed in five divisions for their piece of the $810 prize pool. The average pace of play for today was just over four hours. Thanks again to the staff of Flat Creek for giving our players a great experience.
In Division 1, Co-Chapter Owner, Derek Nicholson was at it again with another victory giving him two in a row. Derek had four birdies and three bogeys for a 1-under par round of 71. Max Dixon took second place with a 75. Derek was awarded the trophy and $120 Visa Gift Card.
In Division 2, newcomer Collin Edwards was able to take care of the victory over Bryan Wimberly who shot an 80 to take 2nd place. Collin was able to birdie all the par 5’s on the day to propel him to a victory. Collin grabbed the trophy and $160 Visa Gift Card. Bryan was awarded a $50 Visa Gift Card for 2nd place.
In Division 3, the play was about as consistent as in gets. Spencer Taylor shot 5 over on the first nine, then 5 over on the final nine to take a two shot victory. Geoffrey Robbins took second place after staying close to Spencer all day. Two late bogeys for Geoffrey allowed Spencer to pull away. Spencer was awarded the trophy and a $180 Visa Gift Card. Geoffrey racked up a $60 Visa Gift Card as well as one of the closest to the pin contests. Congrats to both players.
In Division 4, first year member, Andy Maestas caught fire on the back nine to win the event by five strokes over Elijah Melendez. Andy and Elijah both birdied the short par 3 14th hole that had a vicious pin placement. Andy went on to play the final four holes at two over to take the victory. Andy was awarded the trophy and a $120 Visa Gift Card.
In Division 5, another first year member took the victory. Michael Toney shot 96 to win by two over Don Hamblett. Michael played consistently over the final six holes to secure the victory. The stretch of holes 10-12 turned out to be the deciding factor between these two. Michael grabbed the trophy and a $120 Visa Gift Card.
The Atlanta Chapter next heads to The Frog Golf Club, in Villa Rica, GA on April 16th . Registration is open and spots are filling up.
