EagleSticks Golf Club Tournament Results
At EagleSticks Golf Club we had 42 golfers come to play in our 10th event of the year. The weather was a typical Midwest Hot and extremely Humid day and the players lit up the course all day with birdies, eagles, and a HOLE IN ONE by Mike Rafferty.
In Division 1 Ty Schobelock extended his hot streak by winning his third tournament in a row. Ty opened with a 2 over par 37 on the front nine which had him neck and neck with Justin Arens and Tyler Norman. Ty then birdied both par 5s including the 18th hole to come in with 35 for a winning score of 72. Justin Arens and Tyler Norman tied for 2nd with 74.
In Division 2 Rick Williamson broke through earning his first win with the Amateur Players Tour with an impressive 73. Rick shot 37 on the front nine highlighted by an eagle at the par 4 4th. Rick would then make a triple bogey on 15 to fall out the lead but regained it in the perfect fashion by birdieing the last three holes to shoot 35 and 73 overall. Rick Thomas shot 74 for 2nd place and flipped places with Rick Williamson in Senior Net. Jay Vanderkooi and David Devine tied for 3rd with 75.
In Division 3 scores were low across the division with 6 players breaking 80. Colin Crumrine was very steady on the front nine shooting 37 and just a couple back of the lead at the turn. Then after two bogeys on the back Colin birdied 16 and 17 and then parred 18 to shoot 72 for the victory. This was Colin’s first win with the Amateur Players Tour. Curt Vanderkooi who was steady all day with 5 bogeys and a birdie on the par 5 18th to shoot 74 for 2nd. Tyler Shaw who shot an even 35 on the front finished in 3rd with 75. Highlight of this division though was Mike Rafferty’s HOLE IN ONE on the par 3 12th. Hole was playing 165 to the middle and Mike hit a little 9 iron behind the hole and spun it back into the hole.
In Division 4 Mark Broom played lights out and by far his best round ever with the Amateur Players Tour. After a steady 2 over 37 on the front nine Mark made 3 bogeys and 2 birdies on the back nine for 36 and a winning score of 73. Rick Gordon who also posted his best round with the Amateur Players Tour shot 78 for 2nd. Luke Hurlburt in just his 2nd tournament in Division 4 shot 80 for 3rd place.
In Division 5 Doc Sherman got his first win of the season with one of his lowest rounds with the Amateur Players Tour of 87. Doc shot 45 on the front and then came home strong on the back shooting 42 highlighted by 2 birdies. Steve Smith who was around the lead all day shot 88 (46,42) for 2nd. Guest Chris Kell shot 91 for 3rd.
In the Senior Net optional side game Rick Thomas shot a net 68 to take a 1 shot victory for his first senior net victory of the year. Rick Williamson shot a net 69 for 2nd. Doc Sherman and Chuck Falter shot a net 70 for a tie for 3rd.
Closest to the Pins went to Cody Rausch for #2, Mitch Van Hoose #5, Shawn Snyder #10, and Mike Rafferty with his HOLE IN ONE on 12.
