Des Moines Waveland Golf Course Results

On Sunday June 27th, 2021, Iowa Tristate held its 7th tournament of the season at Waveland Golf course in Des Moines Iowa.  The rain stayed away all day, thus setting the stage for a perfect day of golf! The course was in great shape and the tee times went off smoothly. There were 27 players in this tournament, and we had a few members shoot some of their best scores of the season! 

Division 1 winner Stephen Kluck (75) cruised to a 12-stroke victory over 2nd place finisher Cade Thompson (87). This is Kluck’s first win in three starts with the APT. 

In Division 2, 18 holes were not enough to decide our champion. Dale Morrison (81) was able to claim his victory with a four-hole playoff against APT newcomer Seth Pierce (81). On the fourth playoff hole Morrison was able to scramble to save par by draining a 15-footer. Pierce had a hot putter all day, until the final playoff hole, where he lipped out a short putt for par. Morrison’s win at Waveland GC is his third of the season, thus pushing his current point lead to almost 900 over second place. 

Division 3 was full of surprises with two players shooting their APT career best. Paul Schmitz (73) was on fire shooting his APT best +1. Unfortunately, he was eventually disqualified for shooting to far out of his division. Thus, making Darin Smith (77) your division 3 winner. Smith also shot an APT career best at +5. Smith cruised to a 5-stroke victory over 2nd place finisher Peter Alepra (82).

Division 4 winner Ryan Hohanshelt (84) cruised to a 5-stroke victory over 2nd place finisher Robert Vincent (89). Hohanshelt posted his best round since joining the APT. This is his first win after finishing second and third in his first two APT events. 

Division 5 winner Cole Holton (95) cruised to a 5-stroke victory over 2nd place finisher Dirk Hamel (100). This was Holton’s first APT event, and he made the most of it. 

Congratulations to all our champions and we look forward to your continued success with at our next tournament. The tournament will be July 18th, 2021 at Finkbine Golf Course, the home of the Hawkeyes. We look forward to seeing everyone there and hopefully making some new friends.
