Country Club of Decatur Tournament Results

Cool August weather and some wind accompanied the Country Club of Decatur Sunday which provided exciting finishes.

In Division 1, Todd Manning had a
one shot lead going into the 17
th hole but a bogey put him in a tie with Wes Hillen.  After a monster drive, Wes hit an iron to 12 feet and made the putt for eagle closing the door as Todd could only muster a par.  Wes’s 74 was the low round of the day.
In Division 2, Hank Stolz birdied the 18
th hole to force a playoff with Nick Hortenstine.   Hank closed out the victory by winning the first playoff hole.
Division 3 saw Simay Souvannarath fire a blistering 36 on the front nine.  Even though she cooled off on the back, she held off Kyle Shartzer by four.
Division 4 was won by Decatur local Darryl Schultz in a full field with a great 79. His back 9 low score pulled him ahead of Trenton Matthews. Trenton had a great front 9 which lead to a nail bitter of a competition.
Selena Droce won Division 5 in sound fashion with a great birdie on 6.  Chris Isom hung
tough but he could not mount a comeback.

The Country Club of Decatur lived up to its reputation and conditions were extremely good.  We look forward to coming back next year after their renovation to make the course even better.
