The Iowa chapter of the APT held its third event of the season Sunday April 25th at the beautiful Blue Top Ridge in Riverside IA. After a chilly start the weather turned for the better and produced wonderful conditions for players to post some good scores. Also, we had our first hole-in-1 by Mr. Jacob Goldstick. Here are the division winners:
Kyle Yerington (69) led the way for division 1 with an impressive 8 stroke lead over second place. Coming in 2nd was Kacie Broeg (77) who had a strong front nine with a 38 and held that position until he ran into trouble on #16 and #18 with double boggies to put him at +5.
Division 2 was led by Dale Morrison (79) who finished with a 3-stroke lead over Charlie Estabrook (82). Morrison and Estabrook were neck and neck most of the day until a pair of back-to-back birdies by Morrison on the back 9.
Division 3 winner Paul Schmitz (90) had a commanding lead most of the day until Jacob Goldstick (92) made an impressive run on the back 9 to make it interesting down the stretch. Goldstick posted a 41 on the back 9 that included 2 birdies and a hole-in-1 eagle on the par 3 13th hole.
Division 4 finished neck and neck with Robert Vincent (99) coming out on top with Steve Minder (100) and Bob Morgan (100) finishing in a tie for second place.
Division 5 winner Jeremy Albert (93) finished with an impressive 6-stroke lead over Mitchell Gustin (99). Albert took a commanding lead with a 44 on the front nine and never looked back.
The big winner on the day was Jacob Goldstick with a hole in 1 one on #14 from 156 yards.
