Bentwater Golf Club Tournament Results
The Amateur Players Tour – Atlanta was blessed with an almost perfect day at Bentwater Golf Club in Acworth, GA on Saturday May 7th, 2022. We would like to thank all the wives, girlfriends, and mothers of the golfers that came out today for allowing them to be part of this awesome event on the eve of one of the best holidays we celebrate, Mother’s Day. Our sold-out field of 40 golfers were treated to firm and fast conditions, despite some overnight rain. And from discussion we had with the players after the round, fast may be an understatement with regards to some of the better greens we have see this year. Today the Atlanta Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour handed out a total of $2140 in Visa Gift Cards and Cash Game paybacks.
In Division 1, Birmingham member Daniel Love got off to a hot start to card a one under 35 on the front nine but had some issues after making the turn. In the end the solid play of Atlanta member Derek Foulke (75) edged out Kentucky’s RJ Foltz (77). For their efforts, Derek took home the trophy and the $190 Visa Gift Cart, while RJ took home the $50 Visa Gift Card for his second-place finish. Congrats on your first tour win of this season, Derek.
Division 2 was a shootout all day between three members, and it all came down to number 18. Sean Pierce, Bryan Wimberly, and Collin Edwards were all tied when they stepped up to the 18th tee box. Unfortunately, Sean and Bryan both had some issues on the challenging hole and made double bogie. Collin was the benefactor of this, as he was able to make par for an eight over 80 to secure the victory by two shots and take home the $210 Visa Gift Card. Congrats to Collin on his second win of the season.
In Division 3, Shawn Powers ran away and hid from the rest of the field carding an 86 to take the win, trophy, and the $210 Visa Gift Card home. After front nine struggles both players fired 40 and 41 on the back nine to pull away from the field. Phillip Grant took home second place and the $60 Visa Gift Card that came with it. This is Shawn’s first win of the 2022 season.
Division 4 was a back-and-forth battle between three players. Andy Maestas, who has been on a tear was right in the middle of conversation until a tough stretch of holes in the middle of the back nine. Nick Murphy took advantage of those struggles to pull away from Andy but struggles on the last two holes opened the door for William Wood to take his first victory of the 2022 season. William made a par on the final hole to cap off the one-shot victory.
In Division 5, Ronnie Bennett from the Tennessee East Chapter cruised to a six-shot victory. His solid play included a birdie on the par 4 third hole and pars on five other holes. Bill Ryan took second place with a score of 96. Congrats to Ronnie on your first victory of the 2022 season.
Next up for the Atlanta Chapter is The Stableford and Wolfcreek on May 21, 2022, with tee times beginning at 9 AM. Wolfcreek has a max of 60 players and will sure to fill up fast.
