APT Masters Along the Riverside Results

The APT Rocky Mountain Chapter painted the riverside green and yellow at the Schneiters Riverside GC in Riverdale, UT on April 9th.  A gorgeous week gave way to flurries of snow at points, but players kept up their smiles admist a Masters themed Saturday.

In Division 2, Matias Tello became a first time winner on the Amateur Players Tour, firing a 2-over 73 that included three birdies.  Newcomer on tour, Wade Rogers (75) was two shots back and finished runner-up, cashing in his first event.  Aaron Bascomb (76) continued his hot play this spring, taking 3rd place and rounding out the division money line.

Dane Nielsen won his first event on the Amateur Players Tour, taking the Division 3 Champion honors after posting an impressive 6-over 77.  Joe Salisbury (78) had a look at a 12-footer for birdie on 18, but it slipped by the right edge and he'd have to settle for a tie for 2nd place with Shannon Lester (78) and Mani Kottaichamy (78).  In a scorecard playoff for the money line, Lester took 4th with a back nine score of 39 to Kottaichamy/Salisbury 37.   Salisbury and Kottaichamy also tied the final 6 holes, but Salisbury went -1 over the final 3, when compared to Kottaichamy's 2 over.  Salisbury thus took home 2nd place money, with Kottaichamy in 3rd.   Tony Lamph made a return to the APT and shot a fine round of 80, taking home 5th place prize money.

Bob Woitalla is fresh off a promotion to Division 4 and has added another trophy to his ledger.  Bob was steady all day, going 41-44-85 to win by strokes over a hard charging Brian Bowden (87).  Shiv Kumar Subramaniam (92) and Alexavier Phillips (92) finished in a tie for 3rd.

It was a run-away in Division 5 as Matt Walden (86) picks up his first gross victory on the APT, rolling in a birdie putt on 18 to seal the victory.  It was a three-way tie at 93 for James Goodfellow, Josh Madden, and Bryce Foutz.  Madden would claim 2nd place prize money on the scorecard playoff besting Foutz and Goodfellow; 48,46,45 over the back nine.  Foutz would claim 3rd place prize money with Goodfellow taking 4th.

Peter Fong went un-contested in Division 1, finding two birdies amongst his 79.

Super Skins were won by Mark Amann (4), Taylon Johanson (11), Dane Nielsen (12), Kent Shumway (13), Tyler Moore (14), and Tony Lamph (15).   CTP Winners were Bryce Foutz (Hole 3), Dennis McGraw (Hole 8), Matt Stevenson (Hole 12), Mark Ingalls (Hole 18).

Our graduated golf pro, Danny Meaders brought back some loot from the 2022 Masters for our players.  In a teaming with a pro contest, our players picked a chosen pro and added their distance to the pin on #18 to the pro's distance to the pin on #12 at Augusta National.  Mark Ingalls (Team Total 6 Feet 4 Inches) parlayed his closest to the pin, along with Dustin Johnson on Golden Bell to win 4 items of Masters Swag.  Jason Matyi (Team Total 17 Feet 0 Inch) and Shawn Larsen (Team Total 17 Feet 6 Inches) teamed with Tiger Woods and won 2nd and 3rd place, winning 2 items of Masters Swag each.

Congratulations to all of our champions and various winners.  Next up, is The Matches at T-Point, featuring individual match play at Thanksgiving Point from April 16th through April 23rd.
