Out with the old and in with the new. The Rocky Mountain Chapter honored their 2021 Champions with an awards banquet on Saturday, November 27th. The players took to the course at Thanksgiving Point in this first ever, Turkey Threesome, kicking off the points earning for the 2022 season.
A net stroke play scramble event, all eight teams were playing in one field. Coming down to the 18th hole, trailing by a stroke, TEAM CORNSTALKS (58) were thinking birdie to get into a playoff, but Peter Fong had grander plans; hitting his drive 15 yards short of the front fringe and then chipping in for an EAGLE TWO! It was enough for teammates Michael Waltz and Raul Delatorre to join Fong in hoisting the first trophies of the new season.
TEAM MAC N CHEESE (Amann, S. Larsen, A. Johnson) (59) probably played the most steady golf all day, but they trot away with runner-up honors on this day. TEAM PUMPKIN PIE (Henshaw, Woitalla, Barritt) (60) finished two strokes back after a disaster of a setback double bogey on #12.
In the team super skins competition, TEAM TRYPTOPHAN (Burningham, Torres, & Smith) were the big winners with two of the five skins awarded. The other three were taken by TEAM CRANBERRY SAUCE (Miller, Dean, Torbett) and TEAM MAC N CHEESE along with TEAM CORNSTALKS.
In honoring our season long performers for the 2021 season, the following players were recognized for their achievements, attitudes, sportsmanship and camaraderie representative of an amateur golfer.
