At the picturesque Mattoon Country Club in Mattoon, IL, a dramatic day of golf unfolded under initially rainy conditions that cleared up to reveal a pleasant upper 60s atmosphere. Despite recent downpours, the course was in excellent shape, providing a great challenge for the competitors.

The highlight of the tournament came in Division 1, where Joshua Anderson clinched victory in a thrilling playoff against Trent Rarick. Anderson secured the win with a par on the first playoff hole, demonstrating composure under pressure.

In Division 2, Zack Buxton emerged victorious with an 83, edging out Mike Lingenfelter, who posted an 85. Buxton’s consistent performance throughout the day earned him the top spot in his division.

Rick Johnson from the St. Louis chapter captured the Division 3 title with an 85, narrowly defeating Anthony Zerillo and Tod Jackson, both of whom carded 87s. Johnson’s birdie on the final hole was a spectacular finish that sealed his victory.

Division 4 had a unique situation with only one competitor, Chris Morrison, who impressively shot an 80. His remarkable score under solitary conditions was a testament to his skill and focus.

In Division 5, Myron Schroeder triumphed with an outstanding 91, outperforming Chicago member Chris Graham. Schroeder’s performance was one of the standout achievements of the day.

Rick Johnson also won the Senior net division, making him a double winner at this event, and Chris Morrison took home the Closest to the Pin contest, adding to his accolades for the day.

The tournament marked a significant stop on the tour, which now takes a brief hiatus before resuming on May 26 at Charleston Country Club, where players will eagerly continue their quest for golfing excellence.
