    Lancaster, SC.  The APT Event at Edgewater Golf Club was the first event of the 2024 calendar season for the Charlotte Chapter.  After 2 fall events, the start of the 2024 season could not have been stronger.  With 109 players competing on a gorgeous February day where the temps got to the mid 60’s with no rain.  For the first time in APT History at this course, it was dry enough for the players to drive on all the fairways today which made the course play a little shorter than normal. 

    In Division 1 we had a total of 20 players competing on this day with a total prize pool of $600 at stake. 

    1. Chuck Floyd – Fort Mill, SC (CLT Chapter) 

    Chuck Floyd emerged as the champion, showcasing exceptional prowess on the course. With a composed performance, Floyd finished with a score of 73, securing the top position. His steady play earned him a well-deserved prize of $300.00. 

    2. Jonathan Glover – Gastonia, NC (CLT Chapter) 

    Jonathan Glover put up a strong challenge, finishing closely behind Floyd with a commendable score of 74. Hailing from Gastonia, NC, Glover’s consistent performance throughout the tournament earned him the second spot and a prize of $150.00. 

    3. Kris Laird – Waxhaw, NC (CLT Chapter) 

    Kris Laird displayed remarkable resilience, securing the third position with a score of 75. Laird’s determined effort throughout the tournament showcased his skill and dedication, earning him a prize of $90.00. 

    Tied 4th Place: Dennis Reames – Indian Trail, NC (CLT Chapter) & Daniel Jackson – Indian Trail, NC (CLT Chapter) 

    In a testament to the competitive nature of the tournament, Dennis Reames and Daniel Jackson, both from Indian Trail, NC, tied for the fourth position. With scores of 76 each, they demonstrated remarkable consistency and skill. As a result, they each earned a prize of $30.00. 

    In the Senior Division 1 contest, it was also Chuck Floyd who took top honors and caliming an addition $125.00.

    In Division 2 we had a total of 29 players competing with a total prize pool of $870 up for grabs. 

    18 holes were not enough and as a result, Trent Whitfield and Tim Dupree had to settle the tournament with a sudden death playoff on #18.  On the playoff hole, Trent made a par to secure the victory.   

    1. Trent Whitfield – Lexington, SC (Charleston Chapter) (playoff winner) 

    Trent Whitfield emerged as the victor after a closely contested battle on the course. Hailing from Lexington, SC, Whitfield displayed exceptional skill and resilience to finish with a score of 78. His stellar performance under pressure earned him the top spot, along with a prize of $390.00. 

    2. Tim DuPree – Lexington, SC (CLT Chapter) 

    Tim DuPree put up a formidable challenge, finishing tied for the lead with a score of 78. Representing Lexington, SC, DuPree’s consistent play throughout the tournament demonstrated his mastery of the game, securing him the second position and a prize of $175.00. 

    Tied 3rd Place: Anthony Mullis – Midland, NC (CLT Chapter) & Bob Grove – Fountain Inn, SC (Upstate Chapter) 

    Anthony Mullis from Midland, NC, and Bob Grove from Fountain Inn, SC, both displayed exceptional skill to finish tied for the third position. With scores of 79 each, Mullis and Grove showcased their competitive spirit and earned a prize of $117.50 each. 

    Tied 5th Place: Andrew Hofbauer – Charlotte, NC (CLT Chapter), Tony Mangini – Davidson, NC (CLT Chapter), Cuong Ton – Greensboro (Triad Chapter), NC, Eric Stamper – Indian Trail, NC (CLT Chapter) 

    The fifth position saw a four-way tie, all finished with scores of 81. Their impressive performances earned each of them a prize of $17.50 in Tournament Credit. 

    On the Senior Side, Trent Whitfield wins the Senior Division 2 contest and an additional $180.  Second place was shared between Anthony Mullis – Midland, NC (CLT Chapter) & Bob Grove – Fountain Inn, SC (Upstate Chapter) each player earning an addition $47.50.

    In Division 3 we had 22 players and a purse of $660 up for grabs.  Like Division 2, 18 holes were not enough to determine the winner.  Again, we went back out to Hole #18 to settle the score.  Josh Lemmond and Pedro Lantigua tied with scores of 82 and it only took 1 additional hole for Josh to emerge as victorious. 

    1. Josh Lemmond – Fort Mill, SC. (CLT Chapter) (playoff winner) 

    Josh Lemmond emerged as the champion, showcasing remarkable consistency and resilience on the course. Hailing from Fort Mill, SC, Lemmond battled through challenging conditions to finish with a score of 82. His outstanding performance earned him the top spot and a well-deserved prize of $330.00. 

    2. Pedro Lantigua – Indian Trail, NC. (CLT Chapter) 

    Pedro Lantigua put up a strong challenge, matching Lemmond’s score with an equally impressive round of 82. Representing Indian Trail, NC, Lantigua’s steady play demonstrated his skill and determination, securing him the second position and a prize of $165.00. 

    Tied 3rd Place: Dan Ahlers – Denver, NC (CLT Chapter) & Matt Miller – Fort Mill, SC (CLT Chapter) 

    Dan Ahlers from Denver, NC, and Matt Miller from Fort Mill, SC, both showcased exceptional performances to finish tied for the third position. With scores of 83 each, Ahlers and Miller displayed unwavering focus and skill throughout the tournament, earning them a prize of $82.50 each. (playoff winner) 

    In the Senior Division 3 contest, it was Myron Samuels, Columbia, SC (Upstate Chapter) coming out on top with a score of 84 and winning $135.  In second was Darrell Johnson, Woodruff, SC (Upstate Chapter) with a score of 85 and taking home $65.

    In Division 4 we had 18 players battle it out for a purse of $540. 

    1. Pete Brushaber – Greer, SC (Upstate SC) 

    Pete Brushaber demonstrated exceptional skill and composure to claim the top position in the tournament. Hailing from Greer, SC, Brushaber delivered a stellar performance, finishing with a score of 85. His consistent play under pressure earned him the coveted first place, along with a prize of $325.00. 

    2. John Pearson – Gastonia, NC (Upstate, SC) 

    John Pearson put up a strong challenge, finishing closely behind the leader with a commendable score of 86. Representing Gastonia, NC, Pearson’s determined effort and precision on the course secured him the second position and a prize of $135.00. 

    3. Peter Fahey – Spartanburg, SC (Upstate, SC) 

    Peter Fahey displayed resilience and skill throughout the tournament to secure the third position. With a score of 90, Fahey showcased his competitive spirit and determination, earning him a prize of $80.00. 

    On the Senior Side, If was Pete Brushaber taking home top honors and an additional $135.  Second place went to John Pearson and an addition $65 added to his winning total for the day.

    In Division 5 we had our largest field ever in Division 5 for a local event in Charlotte with 21 players competing for a total purse of $630. 

    1. Harold Heath – Lexington, SC (Augusta, Chapter) 

    Harold Heath delivered a stellar performance, demonstrating exceptional skill and precision on the course. Hailing from Lexington, SC, Heath finished with a score of 84, securing the top position in the tournament. His remarkable play under pressure earned him the first-place title and a well-deserved prize of $315.00. 

    2. Derrick Ray – Charlotte, NC (CLT Chapter) 

    Derrick Ray displayed strong determination throughout the tournament, finishing closely behind the leader with a commendable score of 93. Representing Charlotte, NC, Ray’s consistent effort and perseverance on the course secured him the second position and a prize of $160.00. 

    3. Zachary Chavis – Barnwell, SC (Augusta, Chapter) 

    Zachary Chavis showcased remarkable resilience and skill, securing the third position in the tournament. With a score of 94, Chavis displayed his competitive spirit and dedication, earning him a prize of $95.00. 

    Tied 4th Place: Bill Gillette – Mt. Holly, NC (CLT Chapter) & Rivia Brown – Winston-Salem, NC (Triad Chapter) 

    Bill Gillette from Mt. Holly, NC, and Rivia Brown from Winston-Salem, NC, both delivered impressive performances, finishing tied for the fourth position with scores of 95 each. Their consistent play and determination earned them each a prize of $30.00. 

    On the Senior Side, Bill Gillette and Rivia Brown shared top honors and each take home an addition $125.00 in earnings.
