2023 Tims Ford Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

The Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour visited Bear Trace at Tims Ford this past Saturday. 95 golfers from 5 chapters competed for a prize pool totaling just over of $4,900. The weather also decided to compete against the field as rain persisted for all that teed it up.  Regardless, the competition was high as two divisions needed extra holes to decide a champion.

In Division 1, two golfers distanced themselves from the rest of the field.  Ramsey Kimbrough from Soddy Daisy and Drew Taylor from Franklin ended their round tied for the lead with +1 72.  Kimbrough prevailed quickly in the playoff with a birdie on the 1st playoff hole.

In Division 2, the race for 1st did not end in a playoff, but did come down to the final hole. John Bradshaw from Crossville posts 3 birdies during his round takes first place with a score of +4 75. He claimed the one-stroke victory over Tom Foster from Murfreesboro, who posted 13 pars on his way to a +5 76, posted to late-round bogeys to finish in sole possession of 2nd place.  A host of players finished tied for 3rd place, all with rounds of +6 77: John Bean from Nashville, Michael Romine from Meridianville, AL and Craig Ketelsen from Murfreesboro.

In Division 3, Kirk Rose from Nashville scores a two-stroke victory with his round of +6 77. Rose’s outward nine was the difference and was highlighted with an opening double bogey on the par 4 1st and 3 birdies that proved to be the difference. Drew Blalock from Cookeville finishes in 2nd place with his round of +8 79. Lawrenceburg’s Hunter Smith takes solo 3rd place with +9 80. In a 4th place tie was Randy Redden from Ringgold, GA and Hutson Smith from Lawrenceburg both finishing the day at +11 82.

In Division 4, the old American Express slogan rang true: Membership has its privileges. By rule, guests that compete in Divisions 2-5 in our tournaments can only finish as high as 2nd place. Nashville Chapter member Cody Ray from Lafayette takes home 1st place with his round of +12 83 as Rick Parks from Murfreesboro, playing as a guest, posts a great round of +10 81 and takes 2nd place. Parks said afterwards that he had a fun time and signed up to be a member of the Nashville Chapter the following day. Coming in a 3rd place tie, Charlie Few from Murfreesboro and Jason Bucher from Paris both finish with +16 87.

Division 5 was decided with a one-hole playoff.  Chip Kirkland from Crossville was the leader in the clubhouse on the strength of his inward nine 41 to take the lead. Thurman Boyd from Smyrna had a rollercoaster back nine and finished with a flourish with a birdie 2 on the par 3 18th to get into the playoff. In the playoff, both players reached the par 4 1st hole in regulation and the tournament was to be decided on the putting surface. Boyd’s birdie attempt was too strong and he missed his long putt for par. Kirkland was able to two putt and win the trophy. In 3rd place, Basil Hall from Primm Springs finishes with a round of +18 89.

In Senior Net, Thurman Boyd posts a net two-under par 69 to win by four strokes over Nashville Chapter Co-Owner, Chris Guthrie from Brentwood. Bryan Packer from Clarksville takes 3rd his net round of +3 74.
