2023 Springfield CC Golf Tournament Results

On a colder day at Springfield Country Club we had 41 golfers brave the elements and walking only in our Columbus opener.  Scoring was very difficult across the divisions as conditions were very tough.  There were a few stand out rounds as 8 players broke 80 and 1 player broke 70.

In Division 1 Colin Laszlo showed his local knowledge as a member by putting together the epitome of the phrase a consistent round.  Colin had 3 birdies and 15 pars to post a 3-under 69 first his first APT victory.  RJ Foltz put together a solid round of 73 highlighted by 3 birdies on the front nine to take 2nd place.  John Fryman posted a consistent 38,38 for 76 and 3rd place.

In Division 2 Jason Cooper came out with a strong front nine 37 highlighted by a birdie at the par 5 2nd.  After a rough 10th and 11th hole Jason played the last 7 even par with another birdie at the par 5 17th.  Jason ended with 76 for a 2-shot victory.  Blake Stradling posted an impressive 40,38 for 78 in his APT debut and took 2nd place.

In Division 3 Adam Kohler was very steady in not posting any big numbers throughout the day.  After a 43 on the front nine Adam would have 2 pars and 7 bogeys on the back for a 43 and a total of 86 and a 3-shot victory.  Roman Helsel, John Blackburn, and Danny Bay would all shoot 89 for a tie for second.

In Division 4 Jim Kohler would weather the rough opening nine 47 by parring 7 of his final 9 holes including 5 straight to start the back 9.  His back nine 38 would total 85 and a 4-shot victory. Jim would also shoot even par in the Senior Net game to take that by 3 shots as well.  Zach Walker who was around the lead much of the back nine would shoot 47,42 for 89 and a tie for second with Wes Clark who posted 40,49 for 89.  Sean Phillips would shoot 91 for 4th in his APT debut.

In Division 5 Brandon Kristy dominated for much of the day.  He would come out with an impressive 41 on the front highlighted by a birdie on the par 5 5th.  After weathering a rough 12th hole Brandon would play par or bogey golf the rest of the way in to shoot 46 on the back for 87 and a 2-shot victory.  Robert Benavides had an opposite round as the front nine was tough going out in 48 but then came in very solid shooting 41 on the back nine for 89 for 2nd place.  Robert would also shoot 75 in the Senior Net game for a tie for 2nd.  Steve Smith followed up a solid start at TPC Rivers Bend with a 92 for 3rd place.  Steve also shot 75 in the Senior Net game for a tie for 2nd.
