2023 Skybrook Golf Tournament Results

A bright and Sunny morning and afternoon greeted the players on Monday.  It was chilly to start but warmed up nicely for this spring day.  86 players across 5 different chapters travelled to Huntersville, NC to take part in the event.

In Division 1, We had 21 players competing in our top division.  Jacob Sigmon (Upstate) had a one stroke lead coming into 18 at even par on the day.  Only needing a par to secure the victory, he didn’t shy away and closed out with a birdie on the final hole to win by 2.  His score of 71 (-1) was 2 better than Kyle Moffett (Triad) who shot 73 (+1).  Tying for third place with scores of 74 (+2) was Tim Barto (CLT) and Cory Caldwell (Upstate).

On the Senior Side, Scott Patnode take home top honors with a score of 77 (+5).

Congrats Jacob and Scott!!

In Division 2, with 21players in the field It was our division 3 Local Player of the Year from 202, Tyler Phillips, who continues to show that he can compete at the higher level.  Tyle was dejected when checking in before the round complaining that he had lost his game and was struggling to break 90.   Well as the results show, HE FOUND IT and shot a tremendous round of 75 (+3) and claimed a 2-shot victory.  Masa Kokubu (CLT) takes home 2nd place with a score of 77 (+5).  We had a tie for 3rd with Anthony Stout (TN East-Chapter Owner) and Chase Brown (CLT) both shooting 78 (+6).

On the Senior Side, it was Anthony Stout who took 1st.  Terry Newsome (Triad) claimed 2nd with a score of 79 (+7)

Congrats Tyler and Anthony!!!

In Division 3, another large field of 27 players battled it out this Monday. It was an emotional win for Charlotte member Mitch Altman, who was playing his first event on tour after his mother passed away a few weeks ago.  She must have been caddying all day with him on this day as he shot 80 (+8) and claimed a 2-shot victory. Kirk Tatge (CLT) was just 2 shots back at 82 (+10).  We had a tie between 3 golfers who slip the 3rd, 4th and 5th place prizes.  Tim Wyatt (CLT), Terry Upright (CLT) and Mark Blankenship (CLT) claimed 3rd place honors with scores of 83 (+11).

On the Senior side just like the open side, it was Mitch Altman claiming the victory making it a true double dip and taking home $590 in total prizes for the day.  2nd went to Kirk Tatge and rounding out the top 3 was Tim Wyatt and Mark Blankenship who split the 3rd place winnings.

Congrats Mitch on your double Dip!!!

In Division 4 a field of 10 golfers battled it out.  Jonathon Gladden (CLT) takes his second victory of the year with a score of 88 (+16).  Jonathon recently was promoted to Division 4 and looks to continue his winning ways.  We had a tie for 2nd place with Dan Rossi (CLT) and Gary Nivens (CLT) both shooting 90 (+18).  Gary and Dan split the second-place winnings.

On the Senior side, we paid out the top spot with only 6 players participating.    Gary Nivens took home the win.  I’d like to wish a speedy recovery to Gary who will be missing a few weeks as he undergoes surgery on his knew in the coming days.

Congrats Jonathon and Gary on your victories!!!

In Division 5 we had a small field on this day.    Our 2022 POY has returned to the winner’s circle.  Steve Daniels (CLT) takes home top honors with a score of 90 (+18). 2nd place went to Terry Bollenbecker (CLT) with a score of 94 (+22)

On the senior side, Steve made it a true double dip claiming both top honors.

Congrats Steve on your Double Dip!!!
