2023 Revere Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

What a beautiful day at the Revere Golf Club in Henderson, NV for the Battle at the Revere – Concord Course.  The weather was perfect, the course was great, and the play was awesome.

Division 1 – Another dominating performance by Josh Crossen [79].   After winning the Spring Bash last month, Josh came out firing and had a solid performance to secure another victory on the APT – Las Vegas tour. Hendra Wijaya [84] finished second. Josh plays steady golf and once he gets a hot putter he is hard to beat.

Division 2 – Another solid performance by Mark Smith [ 85] as he played steady again. Here’s what Mark said, “I was Lucky for most part today. All the others made bigger numbers. My score was horrible since I hit all 14 fairways and hit 3/4 par 3’s and putted from fringe on other. By far the worst score I could have shot. Ben May hit a couple desert balls and Sean Greenough had 3 or 4. Nobody putted well. I had five 3 putts. I made a nice run around the turn and once I had the lead, I protected and just tried to stay even with Ben, shot for shot.”

Division 3 – Back-to-back Championships for Gary Rapoza! This course is his home course and this is what he said after the round, “The Revere GC has been my primary golf course, and I've played 95% of my rounds there since I started. So, I'm quite familiar with the layout and where to hit the ball. However, executing the shots is not always easy. Today, I set a goal to hit the center of the green and avoid three-putting, which has been a challenge for me. I managed to hit 14 out of 18 greens in regulation and never three-putted, even on the holes where I struggled. Knowing the course well certainly helped me navigate the challenges. Interestingly, my nemesis hole at Concord, the par 5 on 18, was my starting hole today. I made par on it, which helped me relax and enjoy the rest of the round.

Unfortunately, I dropped four strokes on my last three holes due to some missed putts and hitting into the sand. But I'm proud that I never three-putted, which was a big accomplishment for me. I want to express my gratitude to Kreg & Hendra for organizing these events. Over the past year, I've met some great people, and this tourney was no different, good luck to Chase Burbank at his HS State Championship next week!!! And I’ll see you at Lexington at the end of the month.”

Division 4 -   The 2022 Player of the Year Joey Filippi got his first ever win on the APT -Tour winning with an impressive score of [77]. Playing very steadily this weekend earns him this victory. Here’s what he said after the round, “14/14 fairways hit, made the short putts. Started at 6 over for the first 6 holes and then was one under for the final 12.”

Great job and congratulations Joey!!!

Division 5 – This is what makes APT so popular with the players – Great comradery. Here are some player remarks from two players that had to go into a play-off to decide the Championship. From Anthony Altemoos who took second - “I started terrible with a 56 front and then shot a 40 on the back. Played streaky on the front 9. Learning the green speeds was difficult but was able to hone it in on the back and shoot 40. Clutch drives and accurate approach shots kept me in the match. I was down by 9 going into the back 9, so coming back and forcing a playoff was clutch in my opinion. Robert is a great guy by the way - Didn’t mind losing to him”.

From the Champion Robert Rosenbaum when asked how he did it, he said, “Okay I don't know, I guess I just hit the ball pretty good today off the tee. I was always in pretty good position after my tee shot and my iron play was pretty solid, but it was my putting that let me down all day long. Other than that, I just kept hanging in there and at the end of it, they told me I was in contention. Great golf course so I really enjoyed playing it.”

Senior Net – Tournament sponsor Ed Norton with Norton Consulting & Investigation played solid golf and took home the Senior Net Championship Congratulations Ed and “thank you” for your support.
