2023 Lake Forest CC Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

The STL Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour visited Lake Forest Country Club on Monday. 144 players tested their skills against this 18-hole, par 72 championship caliber golf course. With its lightning-fast greens and thick rough, it was a challenge for all players in the field. Lake Forest has hosted events such as The Gateway Nike Championship, USGA and PGA Tour National Qualifiers, and the Metropolitan Open Championship.

In Division 1, Blake Heimburger had a great round shooting 3 over-par 75 with 14 pars on the day. Coming in just one shot behind Heimburger was Robert Jackson shooting 4 over-par 76 on the day with an eagle on hole 14. Our senior champion and third place finisher in the open division was club member Jeff Dunn with a great 5 over-par 77.

In Division 2, Marco Tallerico had a strong performance on the championship course shooting 6 over-par 78. Mark Lamoureux earned his first win of the 2023 season winning the senior division and finishing in second in the open division shooting 10 over-par 82. Chad Crawford, Phil Sherer, and Kent Van Kleve all shot 11 over-par 83 to tie for third.

In Division 3, we had a hard-fought battle. David Ross and Tyler Dougherty tied for 1st shooting 10 over-par 82. Simay Souvannarath had another solid performance on tour shooting 11 over-par 83 to take home third place in the open division and win the senior competition.

In Division 4, Kansas City member, Thomas Kass was able to squeak out a victory shooting 13 over-par 85. Michael Scoles of St. Charles MO fell just one shot behind Kass in the open division but won the senior division shooting 14 over-par 86 on the day. Jesse Bauman had a good day shooting 15 over-par 87.

In Division 5, we had another tight race to the finish line. Christopher Jones took home the open trophy shooting 20 over-par 92. Mark Galentine fell one shot behind Jones taking home second place in the open division and first place in the senior division shooting 21 over-par 93. Iowa Member Robert Rosenbaum shot 22 over-par 94 for a third place finish in the open division and second place in the senior division.

Next stop on tour is the Father’s Day Skip day at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison Illinois. Ranked the #1 public golf course in St. Louis and the only course with bentgrass fairways, this one will not disappoint.
