On Saturday, the Tri-Cities/Southwest Virginia chapter had our sixth tour stop at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, TN. A buzz was in the air as players anxiously awaited getting the sixth tournament underway, earning valuable points towards qualifying for the inaugural North American Championship at Pinehurst Resorts in October. A competitive field faced sunny and warm conditions, but a golf course that was in excellent shape.
In Division 1, Tim Saunders from the Smokey Mountain chapter battled his way to a +5 over 77 on his way to victory. Joseph Combs from the Smokey Mountain chapter finished second 12 shots back with a +17 over 89.
In Division 2, Todd Holmes took home the victory with a +5 over 77. Mike Wilkins, Anthony Stout and James Heath finished one shot back with a +6 over 78. Ronnie Burton finished fifth two shots back at +7 over 79.
In Division 3, Chris Beeler from the Smokey Mountain chapter bested the field with a nice +6 over 78. Wayne Roberts from the Kentucky chapter finished second three shots back with a nice +9 over 81. Jordan Blanton from the Kentucky chapter finished third four shots back with a score of +10 over 82.
In Division 4, Michael Ridge from the Smokey Mountain chapter shot a solid +9 over 81 to take home the victory. Fred Tollett from the Smokey Mountain chapter finished two shots back with a nice +11 over 83. Dusty Ledbetter from the Smokey Mountain chapter finished third three shots back with a strong +12 over 84.
In Division 5, Chuck Poe continued his victory campaign by winning shooting a solid +20 over 92. Brett St Clair finished the day in sunny conditions with a +22 over 94. Finishing third was Brian Braithwaite from the Virginia Capitol chapter finished third with a +23 over 95.
From here, the APT moves to Elizabethton Golf Club on Sunday, June 13th. We look forward to seeing everyone for another exciting APT tournament and another chance to earn valuable points in our local Player of the Year race.
