Turning Stone Resort – Verona, NY -Sat./Sun. May 22nd & May 23rd -Metro NY chapter held its first two day regional of the season. Saturday's tee times started at 10am on the Shenendoah GC while Sunday brought us an 8am shotgun for all players on the difficult Kaluhyat course!
Let's see how the players did!
Division 1: It was mano y mano in division one as Vic Tandon (+23) squared off with Matt Minder (+7) to see who would get the weekend's bragging rights! While Tandon hung tough on day one, Minder's consistency and good play proved to be too much over the course of two days. Both guys gave it their all but congrats to Matt on the victory!
Division 2: Tight race after round one, with 5 players within 3 stokes of each other, it was not clear who would be able to raise the trophy when the weekend concluded. After 36 holes however, John Sheehan (+16) separated himself by 6 strokes to claim the win! Jody Barrett (+22) finished second while Joe Arnold (+23) and Brad Garrett (+23) took home a share of third!
Division 3: After 18 holes Kasey Dickenson and Stephen Phiefer were sat tied at +8. But Day 2 Dickenson (+23) was able to fend off all challengers and win the title! Despite a late charge from Kevin Smith who started Day 2 six strokes back, Kevin Smith (+24) finished second while Scott Poniewaz (+26) rounded out the top 3
Division 4: Again, we started with a shared leaderboard to start Day 2 here in division 4. Jeff Marshall and Walter Stashin both took on the Kahulyat course deadlocked at +12. Stashin (+31) was the one who was able to hold the lead and claimed the trophy! Marshall (+40) finished second while Pete Murray (+41) and Christy Mccauley (+41) took home a share of third!
Division 5: There's a new sheriff in town in Division 5 as James Bekiaris (+46) took home his first win of the young season! After 36 holes Mr. Bekiaris was 9 strokes better than his closest competitor! David Garrett (+55) finished in second with a late surge of his own while Sean Tavel(+56) and Dan Andrews(+56) shared 3rd place!
It was really a Great weekend of Golf and Camaraderie amongst all the players – Special Thanks to all the staff who made for a great weekend.
