TKR Classic at Grandview Country Club Results

Division 1: Robert Waker joined the tour on June 16th, 2021. On June 19th, 2021 he became a 1st time winner! Robert introduced himself to APT-WV and the Amateur Players Tour as a whole with a dominate performance on a course that was playing tougher than usual. Robert shot a +3 (75) to unseat points leader Jerod Ewing who had won 2 straight APT-WV events from the winners circle. Robert is looking to keep up his winning ways at Stonehaven in the Busy Bee Bakery Open this coming weekend. Tour newcomers Mark Strickland and Ed McCormick finished 3rd and 4th respectively in their debuts.

Division 2: Dexter Moore was a man on a mission at Grandview Country Club as he shot the low round of the day with a +2 (74) to take down D2 points leader Brandon Thompson by 8 shots! Dexter’s game was on all day as he started with a par, before setting the tone with a birdie at 2. Could Dexter perhaps be about to be promoted to D1? Time will tell, but with dominate play like this, he could be a factor in the points races before this season is over in D1 or D2, wherever he may be. Mike Elliott tied Brandon Thompson for 2nd

Division 3: Claytina Shepherd was able to find her way back into the winners circle this week defeating soon to be D3 points leader Matt Robinson by 1. Claytina went out 1st on the day and placed a number for the rest of the field to shoot for. Matt Robinson who is dealing with a knee injury suffered last week at Stonewall Resort, played on 1 leg for most the day. Matt’s putt on 18 came within an inch of dropping to force a playoff with Claytina. Visiting SWVA member Daryl Nelson came home 3rd

Division 4: 18 holes were not enough to crown a champion in D4 at Grandview Country Club as points leader Justin Keaton and Al Hannah went back to 18 to crown a champion. Al, who led most of the day, suffered a heart-breaking triple on hole 17. He pulled his shot left on 18 into some tree trouble, forcing a punch out and settling for a bogey, to send us to a playoff. On the playoff hole, Justin put a 5 iron into the fairway, while Al once again pulled his shot left. This time however, Al’s drive went OB. Justin went on to par the playoff hole and capture his 3rd consecutive D4 APT-WV victory. Dave Shepperd came in 3rd

Division 5: Marshall Kiser continued his dominance over D5 with his 3rd straight APT-WV victory. Marshall coasted to a 7 shot victory over former points leader Kevin Long who finished 2nd. With his win, Marshall has taken over the points lead from Kevin has we turn the corner to the 2nd half of our season. Charles Belcher battled all day and came home 3rd for a good points day after suffering an ankle injury on hole 15.

Senior Net: Marshall Kiser also continues to dominate the Senior Net game as he claims another championship. Marshall is going to need to use his winnings this season to build a trophy room onto his home to fit all the hardware he’s collecting this season.

Ladies Net: While she came up short in D2 today, Karen Rainey was able to capture the ladies net trophy over Claytina Shepherd and Linda Ewing.

Thanks to everyone who played at Grandview Country Club and we’ll see you June 27th at Glade Springs on the Stonehaven course for the Busy Bee Bakery Open.
