Southern California’s Riverside Amateur Results

One normally associates mid-May with warm temperatures in Beaumont, CA, but players arrived at Oak Valley GC for the Riverside Amateur to 48 degree temperatures and a bit of rain. No matter, as players ignored the tougher conditions and put together some excellent rounds!
Division 5 had two players post a winning number: Dennis McZeal started out on fire with four straight pars but stumbled on the last two holes en route to a 92; Nancy Lindsay was four back with two to play but went par-bogey to force a playoff! However, given the rapidly deteriorating conditions Nancy conceded the victory to Dennis and they shared the payout of $100. Congrats to both!
Division 1 also appeared to be heading to a playoff, as Blake Keesey (playing in his first APT event) and David Chun thought they were tied after 18. While making their way out for the on-course playoff, it was discovered that Blake had actually won by one after a par on 18- 75 to 76! With that, he took home the Riverside Marquee trophy and the Visa Gift Card, as well as earning $168 in the skins games!
Scott Cristensen continued his winning ways in Division 2- extending his season long points lead to 175 with his victory on Sunday and adding another trophy to his collection. Divisions 1&2 played the APT Orange tees at 6600 yards.
Julian Vo has been working hard on his driving accuracy, and he put on a stripe show off the tee on Sunday en route to an 82 and a 5 shot victory in Division 3. He took control with a 40 on the front 9 that included a birdie on the difficult 8th and never looked back, good for the trophy and a $100 Visa Gift Card!
In Division 4, Marty Rhinehart and Rayfield Lewis went back and forth all day, with Rayfield holding the early advantage at the turn before Marty caught him with a birdie on the par 5 13th. It was still a 1 shot advantage before the watery 17th claimed another victim, making Marty's final margin of victory three shots and his second win in his last three starts! He claimed the trophy and a $150 Visa Gift Card with a solid 88. Divisions 3&4 played the Oak Valley White tees at 6300 yards.

Thank you all for coming out to play!
