President’s Reserve at Hermitage Results

[read_time]

The Music City/Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour held its second event of the season at President’s Reserve at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory. Weather played a huge factor in the scoring as wind gusts of 30+ mph were consistent throughout the round. 83 players battled the conditions and competed for VISA gift cards and trophies.

In Division One, extra holes were need to decide a champion. In regulation, the last hole was pivotal in determining who made it in. Tim Saunders from the Tennessee East Chapter was leader in the clubhouse at +6. On the course, Andrew Neely played consistently the entire day and held a one-stroke lead going into his last hole, but was not able to hold on as a closing double bogey on #9 pushed him back into a tie for 3rd place with Dakota Woodcock. Playing with Neely, Tony Wise from the Kentucky Chapter birdied the ninth and went to a playoff with Saunders. Saunders and Wise started their playoff on the par 4 10th and were still tied after two holes. On the par 3 12th, Wise was able to splash his second shot from the bunker into the hole for a birdie to win.

In Division Two, Craig Ketelsen posted one-under 35 on his inward nine to post three-over 75 and win by two strokes over Wesley Locke, who takes home second place. Both players were playing their first event on tour and what a way to start! Tom Foster posted six-over 78 to take home third place.

In Division Three, Kyle Reed had a spectacular round, highlighted by two birdies on the par 3 3rd and the par 4 16th, shot 4-over 76 to capture the win. Jerry Drewry shoots 7-over 79 to take home 2nd place and his playing partner, Dustin Campbell, posts 12-over 84 to squeeze out a third place finish.

In Division Four, newcomers Aaron Smith and Tad Clanton finished 1st and 2nd place, respectively with rounds of 15-over 87 for Smith and 19-over 91 for Clanton. Another pair of players who start their tour experience with a VISA gift card for their efforts!

In Division Five, David McDow played fantastically on his back nine with a 4-over 40 to run away from the rest of the field to win by nine strokes! A host of Andys finished 2nd and 3rd with Andy Morris posting 96 to capture 2nd and Gaylord Springs Division 5 champion, Andy Nichols, finishing in 3rd with a 99.

In addition, David McDow capitalized on his good play to win the Senior Net competition shooting 1-under NET (71). Jerry Drewry finishes two back in 2nd place with a 73.
