Playoff #1 at Heritage Golf Club Results

The Barefoot Challenge Stage #3 was held on Saturday Aug. 14. Players played the Fazio course. The course was in great shape and one of the longest of the 4 properties at Barefoot Golf Resort. Weather was great and except for someone removing most of our tee markers and HIO signage, it was a great day.

Div 1 was won by Scott Hughes (+4) with John Lavin, our newest member finishing 1 stroke back at +5.This was Scott's 2nd victory in a row.

Div 2 saw Joey Todd playing his best event of the year. Joey had missed a couple events due to work but came back strong. Joey finished at 78 to edge out 3 others by one shot. Don Sheads, Chase Shealy and Travis Wartluft finished tied for 2nd at 79. It was a battle all day. Joey made a triple 7 on #14 but managed to par out to capture the win.

Div 3 was also a close battle. Jack Curry (Mr Joey Pouch) held the lead for most of the day. Jack made double on #14 and with Jeff McGirt making birdie, his lead was cut to 1 shot. They both played the next 5 holes 2 over and Jack edged Jeff out by 1 shot.

Div 4 Jack Periera continued his stellar play. He made the turn at even and he himself was shocked along with everyone else. he cooled off quite a bit and the gap closed after he played 10 thru 12 6 over par. Brian Raymond had pulled with in a couple shots. When they came to their final hole Jack held a 1 shot lead. Brian slipped and made double and when jack made a 5 footer for bogey he captured the crown but 2 shots. He finished at 81(+10).

Div 5 was a tail of 2 sides. Jim (Mutt) Walton playing in his first APT event of the year due to injuries and other obligations, came out hot as a pistol!! Mutt made 4 pars to start his round which he had never accomplished and needless to say my phone started blowing up!! I went and found them on course to see this for myself. He bogied #5 and made his first birdie of the year on #7. He slipped on #9 and made triple but made the turn at +3. The heat finally took its toll on him. Speaking with him he got a little overheated and tired. He finished the back 9 +17 for a 91. Still it was a great round. I do this for players like him, to see players like Mutt continue to improve and set goals to be promoted to the next Division!! Cheryl (Sweat Pea) Barrineau made the turn 7 shots back but played very consistent on her final 9 to get he 2nd win of the year by firing a 87. Mutt finished 2nd. Skins are posted on tournament results page. 50/50 was won by Jim Walton
